Look no further

I think it's awesome that we're getting these games to work on such tiny systems. I know at least a few of you out there will have fun with this--please inform us how it works out :D

I guess I need to get a new handheld... mine can barely run Doom (well, that's an assumption, there doesn't seem to be Doom for handhelds, strangely enough).

I have an rx3115 :(

The PPCs don't have a FPU so it's not possible to run games at a decent framerate. They do FPU in software emulation which is very, very slow.

If you take the time to write a fixed-point 3D engine you can get some pretty beefy graphics out of these things. Doom shouldn't be a problem. Quake is.

This is also pretty old news for handheld aficionados out there.

Both Doom and Doom II were released for the Game Boy Advance.

...Quake 3 was just released for the ppc. Also, it runs at 25fps on the Dell Axim X50, not as bad as you think.

It says on their site they converted the entire codebase to fixed-point, so that's probably why it plays so well.
...Quake 3 was just released for the ppc.
Hurr, no it wasn't. It was ported a matter of days after the Quake 3 source was released.

It did, however, recently get hardware acceleration.
