If you had a million dollars...

Invest it into mutual funds.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

$1,000,000 would be nice right now. I usually don't post my personal problems on this board, but what the hell.

I'd pay for these in no particular order:

1. My dad's collarbone surgery from when he fell off his motorcycle last month (they already went in once but now a screw is dislodged and causing him pain).
2. Medicine/treatments/etc. for my mom. She has multiple sclerosis and is on interferon beta right now, doing injections weekly. She's lucky to be pretty stable, but that stuff is expensive.
3. Band for my grandfather's funeral. He has all the songs picked out but they won't be able to afford live music, just playing it on speakers or something. Also plane tickets for whoever wants to attend (family is all over the country and probably only the local ones will be able to attend, it's coming up soon :( ).

And then less depressing things like college, mortgages, loans etc. for myself, family and friends.

(silly/happy things) Then I would buy a gallon of acrylic cadmium yellow light, because I love that color and it's too expensive to do that without crazy money. I would buy my friend a first edition signed copy of Howl and a neon pink upright piano (grand piano would require space she doesn't have). Another friend would get tickets to France and $50K of oil paint. Yet another friend would get to travel anywhere she chooses, but no material gifts because she's already obsessed with becoming happy that way already.

Lots of other gifts.. I don't know. I should invest it or something but I'm bad at thinking ahead.

I would buy a rebuilt Delorean from DMC.

After that, who cares, it doesnt matter, 'cause Id have my freakin' Delorean. ;)
And when the moment is right, I'm gonna fly a kite.

Kyle, you silly twit.. DeLoreans ARE COOL!!!!! GBK, I know you are going to kill me... but I use to OWN an 81 DeLorean. and I STUPIDLY SOLD it... it was hard to find people that knew what it was, let alone people who knew how to repair it.

The Story goes like this, my dad always like porsche 920's, and I always hated them... so we put my DeLorean up for sale, and some guy offered a trade for a Porsche 920... my dad said to go a head, and he'd pay me for the Porsche...

On the day the guy came to trade, my dad went to work... and when my dad got home, he said he didn't like the 920 cause it sucked... he wasn't going to buy it from me... Then I opened a can on him, and he bought it for $7000 :( I wish I hadn't sold it... :(

How original

What's wrong with that?

Eventually, I would have the $1M delisted as collateral after a few years after I prove that I can consistantly pay the mortgage.

I would still have the $1M plus the money made from investing. I could then use that same million as collateral for another property and keep on repeating the process. Eventually, I would no longer need collateral as my reputation improves, so the million would be mine to spend eventually.

I could multiply that million many times over, rather than just piss it away on consumer items.

If you had actually seen Office Space you'd know that the purpose of the exercise was to find out what you really wanted to do with your life.

It's not necessarily a million dollars - a million doesn't go nearly as far as it used to. The question is asking what you would do if you never had to work to make money.

And my answer? Probably sit around and play video games all of the time.

Ah ok Jon, guess my answer is painting since that's all I bought myself once all the problems were resolved. I'm not too surprised. :)

Come on! I was going to have fun making subtle references to that song, and then you had to go post the whole thing! :(

Well, I'd buy you a green dress.

(But not a real green dress. That's cruel)

Buy a small house, and invest the majority of the money, while having atleast enough to make mortgage and bills without working too too hard.

Pay for University. Then use it to bum around on.
Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

try and figure out WHO I AM

The mirror helps there.

Reminds me a story about one guy who wanted to "find himself". Everybody would tell him "You are right here!" but he wouldn't believe. He ended up climbing some mountain in Tibet and asking some guru to help him "find himself". You know what guru told him? "You are right here!"

BTW, on the topic. As somebody noted:

"You can't enjoy a million dollars until you learn how to make it and have fun while doing it".
