Yeah, I'm downloading the 10-day trial, and I don't want to have nothing at all. Any good Massassians have some old extra items they can give up? I'm trying to decide if it's even worth it, and it'd be hard to tell in 10 days if I don't have anything.

From what I understand, SWG is one of the few MMOs you can just pick up and play. That is, I don't know much about it.

There seems to be much discussion here over SWG all of sudden.

My friend belongs to a huge guild that takes up about 85% of a server...Well recently SWG re-designed the entire game...and apparently they weren't happy with the changes because ALL OF THE PEOPLE IN THE GUILD went out and bought WoW. Now they are all playing WoW....85% of a server just up and left for WoW. Damn.
Think while it's still legal.

They made that stuff up.

Well, the 14% liking the NGE is true.
Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

Meh, there are a lot more in favor of the NGE then you might think. The people who actual spend time posting the forum make up a small minority of all of the subscribers. I'll give you an example:

In the forum everyone's registration date plus their post count is shown.

mine reads:
6-26-2003 (the day of initial release)
59 posts

While others more closly resemble:
7-14-2005
2543 posts

Now. Who do you think does the most whining? Who do you think actually spends time playing the game?

So take what you hear about "Most of the players are against the NGE just as they were against the CU. Let's roll back to pre-CU!" with a grain of salt...because that's all it's worth.

Basically, these people are whining because that combat isn't "figure out the right numerical and template/weapon/armor/buff combination to beat your opponant and then run a macro do everything for you." Where as players like me (who don't have enough free time to try and figure all of that nonsense out) are very excited about combat finally being more skill based.

Word of advice, however, wait a week before doing your trial. They are going to release a hotfix in a couple days to fix the "lag" and other critical issues.

BTW, on the developer chat last night they said there were going to upgrading the engine. Their going to be adding such things as better collision detection and REAL JUMPING (something the game has lacked since beta).

I played SWG before the NGE, and found it was too hard to get into. I've been having a lot of fun in the last few days.

I used to play SWG insanely about a year ago. I became a very sucsessfull merchant. I earned up about 47mil and sold it on ebay :) right when jump to lightspeed came out i sold my money and stopped playing. Now the game looks fresh again with the change. im going to give it another shot with the 10 day trial thingy.

They already did. Just play the trial if you don't have SWG to experience the new system.

I just want to know one thing... Jedi...

I likes how before you could only be a jedi if you were force sensitive and you had to do things to find out if you were or not...

not sure, I never played the game... but that seemed like a good way to not have jedi running around... how is it now? can anyone just up and be a jedi? cause if it's during the GCW then thats kinda lame to have jedi running around everywhere.

They mean better collision detection for weapons and characters. Meaning, so you can't shoot someone through a wall. Just like tables and such are intended to be walked through (even though I disagree that they should be).

Grant, their making it more like the classic RPG's where you pick a race and a profession and then do quests to gain experience and new abilities. More of a Pick-up and go, vs having to first grind to an elite profession before being able to attempt any high end content (even in a group).

Thier suppose to be advancing the time-line too. At this point, I'd rather them just move it ahead to the EU.

They really should move it to the EU because its a bit odd for a whole mess of Jedi to be running around during the age of the Empire.

This is a Star Wars website, and you don't know what the Expanded Universe is? Hell, even JK is part of the EU!

My character is a jedi. I really don't see a problem with it. As RotS suggests, many jedi survived Order 66, and we're not sure how many survived the Purge. It's possible that they've had children. There are also force sensitive people that the jedi order never discovered. It's ridiculous to think that only four people in the galaxy are force sensitive. In fact, according to the EU, Palpatine had many force sensitives working for him, including Mara Jade.

Also, from what I've seen, the jedi profession is no more popular than the others.
