Fixing my NES?
2005-11-17, 7:20 AM #1
That's right, my NES. My Nintendo Entertainment System. Not the NeS storythread on the ISB :p

I have a NES system that no longer works (the power light just doesn't come on). It may be the AC adapter, but more likely it's the system itself. Since Nintendo themselves do not fix these older systems anymore, I don't know where to look to get it fixed. I'd rather not look for another one, since it too will likely fall apart -- I'd rather pay to keep this one in good condition.

So Massassi, know of any reputable places to get my NES fixed?

You could also get an NEX instead. I've been thinking about one of these myself.

I don't think it's the connectors, actually, though I'm sure they could use some tweaking too.

Even if they were, I'd rather have someone with experience fixing it, if I could. If I can't, I suppose I could give it a shot.

The reason I have a NES is to have it in its original format. Otherwise, I'd use an emulator.

I have to say though that the NEX looks pretty nice. A lot better than the top-loading NES systems do in any case.

Find a NES to USB converter and use emulators :p

That's what I do for the SNES, and it rocks hard.

yeah... nothing beats
putting in the cartridge
having the power light blink while the screen does funny things
removing the cartridge
*phwoo*
insert cartridge
turn system on
still blinking
wiggle cartridge
play game
eat right, exercise, die anyway

The metal retaining bar on the inside, is what you can use to adjust the way the game sits and fix the problem.

I actually removed it on mine, and I hardly ever have a game do that anymore.

For an odd reason I find your overuse of commas annoying.

Not that it's working now, but I'm worried I'll do the same.
