Can we get back the old lightbulbs we once used in the forum index?

For some reason I just remembered them today.

Aye, and they spend lots of energy, which is a problem nowadays. Every little bit saved helps.

Nah. The bulbs were powered by ignorance on the forums. Never died out.

In fact, these bulbs bite *** and they burn out faster than normal ones.

Modern bulbs something like that are what I'm using, and they last for great many years and spend a fraction of the energy the old style bulbs do. The only thing that could limit their use is if you have a dimmer switch... Then you couldn't obviously use these energy saving bulbs.

Maybe you have just tried out some really cheap ones? Mine are quite cheap as well, less than 2 euros I think, but they have lasted for years with no problems.

I use one for the room I'm in, and it works fine for me.

Er... as for the actual topic, I'm not sure if I really mind either way. Half the times I get x's for them anyway, and I dunno why

so does the fact that Brian posted here, and the thread fell to this low on the first page mean...

"REQUEST DENIED!" ...?

In 2000, my piano teacher showed me a fluorescent light in a back room that was starting to die. It had been used daily - since 1970.

Fluorescents are crazy. LEDs are even better.

This bulb has been burning nonstop since 1901. It's crazy.

I'd like the old icons back too.

Cool, you can go visit. I wonder what would happen if someone whipped out a rubber band gun at the last minute and shot it out... :o

it's only 4 watts. and looking at the size and amount of wiring inside the bulb, it looks like it can handle more than 83mA :D
