Remember go to some social place... and bring friends along too so you can get to know each other. You should go to a place like an arcade or pool lounge with a soda fountain or something. The mall is a cool place too. If you go to a movie make sure she likes it... also be careful of not irritating here. DON'T MENTION MASSASSI OR YOUR VAST KNOWLEDGE OF GAME EDITING OR SUCH... ETC ETC ETC. TRUST ME... THESE WILL KILL HER.
Nothing to see here, move along.

I speak from experience when I say, ASK her to her face... do NOT ask her over the phone, or do it with a note. It won't work. :(
DO NOT WANT.

Yeah, a face-to-face action shows that you actually care to put in some effort.

Hiding what you are interested in is not only lame, but is going to hurt you much more in the long run. Especially when she discovers it herself (and she will).

Well, I’m about to leave in an hour, and see her at youth group. I can honestly say, I’ve never been more nervous in my life. I just pray that I don’t lose her as a friend if she says no.

So how should I ask? “Would you like to go out with me?” “Do you want to be my girlfriend?” What’s the right way?

Nothing to be nervous about, really, dude. :) She'll say yes. Just be confident, and by be confident, I don't mean constantly think about being confident, I mean just relax, and you'll do fine, by which I mean GREAT :).

Well I'm going now. I'll take (most) everyone's advice. Thanks everyone, and sugarless5, I'll do it that way.

OK, I'm back, so here's what happened.

I went to youth, and we talked and stuff with some friends. We had some time alone sitting on a couch, and we were talking one on one. I asked, "hey, I was wondering if you wanted to go out some time?" She said, "yeah sure." So we exchanged phone numbers, and I'm going to a dance show she's in at my school. It's been years since I've felt as good as I do now. Thanks everyone.

I hear ya, man. I'd be worried about losing them as a friend too, if I ever get to asking... <_<

I just asked a girl out for the first time too. I found it was really easy just because I become more confident around her for some reason. Of course, I still needed a proverbial kick in the balls to get myself to do it. :p

Congratsulations!
