SWG 10 Day Trial: Don't Waste your time

I got it, and you can only play the beginning/learning level where you're in a space station, but when it comes time to actually go into the real game and go to mos eisley you have to pay.

so in other words you get to "learn how to play the game" and once you're ready to actually start the game, the trial ends.

thats not how an MMORPG trial should be, you don't even get to experience the game

Seriously, it took me 15 minutes to do what they give you 10 days to do. I think this trial was geared to old players that had left. They want them to experience the new features they added and hopefully come back. I think they're counting on these players having already explored most of the planets in the game. In that sense, it might have worked on me, I'm tempted to resubscribe for a month or so.

You keep saying that, alpha, and you MIGHT gain a level.

Might.

I played through msot of Beta 3, and about 7 months into the actual game.

I'll repost what I've told a bunch of people:

I start playing, and ten minutes in I think "wow.. they've changed everything about this gam-" and then I crashed to desktop. I smiled and thought "Yup. There's the SWG I came to know and hate."

Seriously, while they've changed most everything, it's the same game. It's still boring, and the lag (for me, at least) was unplayable.

Yeah, I was severely disappointed in the SWG trial. Seriously, I'd rather play KoTOR any day, since there wasn't any of the great online aspects there. I saw other PC's playing, but we didn't talk.

I'd presonally love to see an MMO based in the TES uneverse (hell, having more than 1 human on Vvardenfal or running around Mournhold could get pretty damned interesting... and not make the game seem so lonely)...

I would have rathered the trial just throw me on a random planet with nothing. Now that'd get me wanting to buy the game to continue building.

I wasn't bugged that the SWG was so short. The Everquest II trial was just as short. The whole point of the trial is to just give you a taste of how the game is played and I think it managed to achieve that goal. Sure, leveling up to level 6 took no more than maybe an hour or two but the reason they gave you 10 days is so you can experiment with all the classes and find the one you like so when you do upgrade to the full version, you'll be playing the class that suits your tastes.

I love how the EQ2 and SWG trails limit where you can go and how far you can advance, but still take several gigs of space.

I'd rather not pay Sony to beta test their game. -_-

That's funny, when I did a trial of SWG some months ago, I could go anywhere I wanted.

In fact, I hiked down to the Corellia rebel base place thing and saw C3PO and R2D2 and Wedge. :)

Leia is in the same building on the top floor. Han and Chewie are in the back of the Lok cantina. Mon Mathma and Captain Akbar are at the Abandoned base on Dantooine. And Luke and General Dondona are at a temple on Yavin IV. A lot of these places, as long as your Rebel, if you don't have "access" to them yet, you can temporarily disconnect your internet just long enough to get past the first room and then reconnect the cables. If you do it fast enough, you'll still be connected AND inside and able to move around freely.

90% of the imperial characters (including the Emperor, Vader, Veers, and Tharwn) are at the Emperor's retreat on Naboo.

Yea, the first trial I had with the game was back in July of 2004 where you did have full access to the game for 14 days. I'm guessing that because of what Sony did with the Everquest II trial, they probably decided to do the same thing again with SWG probably because it would make the game a much smaller download. You do have the option to download the rest through the trial but obviously, you have to buy the game first. I hear the Jump to Light Speed trial is free now to those that get the starter kit so if you buy the game, you have the option of getting that game too.

Second time I'm playing... is all of the game "hey, here's a package take it to guy X and shoot Hutt thugs"? Trial or not, that seems quite boring.

That's the nature of MMOs in a nutshell. You're just nothing more than an errand boy for some stupid NPCs that are stuck in a time loop and think everyone and their dog needs to do their bidding.

They need to make a dynamic mmorpg and run it with DM's and whatnot. That'd be amazing.

Hey guys, I downloaded the trial to this game and I thought it was pretty interesting. I may end up getting the Stater Kit but am still unsure if I will comit to this game for only the next 3 months as that is when DDO comes out and I will get that game. SWG does sound a little more tempting then it use to but I have to say that the idea of not having set professions sounded alot better then what they are doing now. I think they should have just tweaked them a bit and then possibly add some quests for after lvl 30 ( hear that after lvl 30 all you could really do was grind to lvl up). Then again this is just me talking and I've only played the Trial to this game and like I said, I do enjoy the trial ( esp. the space battles) but I thought I'd throw out what I thought. :D

See, the downside to that is that it's Anarchy Online.

I gave that game about 3 tries but I can't for the life in me find that game of any value. IMO, it sucks. The UI is horrid, the graphics are downright ugly, the sound is almost non-existant, and the combat is dull. It just isn't much fun to play.
