And its not the only game that has problems here and there. Might just be ports, but its telling me the Xbox 360 isn't as powerful as they might have claimed. :/

Might be Ravensoft who sucks, though, but its not a good start. Matter of fact, there are some framerate drops or visual bugs imentioned in most reviews I've read.

Yeah, it's kind of funny how it's advertised as being crazy powerful, but my computer can run the PC version of most of the 360 games at full resolution with all options on...

So when's this supposed nine gigahertz going to be fully utilized then?

It's all issues on how well the coding was optimized for the system. When Halo PC came out the radeon 9800 series was pretty much top of the line. Anything below it and you would get horrible framerates in congested combat situations. Hardware problem? No. Just inefficient coding.

The 360's not to blame here for the issues.

Actually, it is, because none of the games are multithreaded so its hardware is worth crap.

I'm a bit confused. Doom3 can run on the Xbox. Now, Quake4, which is easier to run (I think) than Doom3 gets to be on Xbox360? I assume Quake4 uses more effects and such?

And the PC version DIDN'T?

Really... why don't we all withhold judgement on the system until oh... maybe the second or third wave of games. Then we might actually have a good idea of how good or bad the 360 is in terms of power.

Wait... the entire forum is incapable of that... nevermind.

doom3 on the xbox was done by lowering texture detail all over the place, removing certain areas of the levels, and removing shadows from the following light sources... flashlights, muzzle flashes, glowing balls of energy... in fact i don't remember seeing any enemies or other random characters casting any shadows

Yes, and developers will magically start creating multi-thread games, which will sell for 70-80 a piece because it's so freaking difficult and out of the way to do so.

Oh wait, most of the Xbox's games were imports ANYWAYS, so unless the PC market shifts towards that (which is unlikely, though more likely now with AMD's move to dual core processors as their main), the 360 is screwed power-wise.

And Jon, correct me if I'm wrong because I got this information from you, ATI themselves said that their graphics chip is quite inferior to the one that the PS3 has--one that was quite well emulated with a 7800GTX.

Fact is, the 360 is probably quite a bit more underpowered than anyone would like to admit--but I think the following the PS2 has procured proves that it's not the system that makes the games--it's the games that make the system. Unfortunately, the Xbox really does lack good MS-only titles. We'll see how it goes this round.
