Midi to Wav converter

Hey, I'm trying to convert a midi to wav format. Does anyone know of a program that can do this that's free? I only need to do one song, so I don't want to have to buy one. I tried GoldWave, but for some reason it can't detect the format of .mid Anyways, if someone could help me out I'd greatly appreciate it, I've been looking on Google, but nearly all of them are either pay, or trials, that won't let you do the whole song.

Thanks in advance :)

Midi files aren't audio files, per se.
They are a code that the computer enterpretes then plays the noise accordingly from it's midi 'ware.

As far as I know, there are no good free methods to doing this. Your best bet would be to find a sequencing program and assign audio files to the midi tracks and render it as a wav that way. I'm willing to bet that's a ton more work than what you're willing to do for it anyways.

What's the midi file? Link to it, I might be able to create a solution for you.

Here, I uploaded it to my website.

It's the song "You'll be in my heart" by Phil Collins, from Tarzan.

P.S. this is for my girlfriend, she wants to be able to have a karaoke version of it, and so she needs it to be wav or mp3 to put it on to a CD, so I told her I could do it o_O

I didn't realize what a mess midi's were.

do a search for modplug tracker on google, it can convert midi's to wavs, it does have some very minor timing issues during the conversion process, but it shouldn't be too bad.

[EDIT]here ya go http://lpchip.com/modplug/viewforum.php?f=2[/EDIT]

Except that has words to it, and thus the reason for the midi version with no words.

You might be able to use Goldwave to remove the vocals, but I'm not certain.

As to your original request:

44.2 Mb - youllbeinmyheart.wav (zipped) (.wavs are huge by nature)
or
7.76 Mb - youllbeinmyheart.mp3

I made the mp3 one because it's a fast download and you should be able to do a .mp3 to .wav coversion more easily than a .mid to .wav.

midi's to wave can be done by setting your recording input to "what you hear" on some cards. I know my creative can do this. I just start recording, then play the midi, make sure no other sound is playing.

though it really is useless. except for burning purposes

Winamp has diskwriter output which writes a wav file from whatever you listen to on winamp. This even works for MIDIs.
