1. How big would it be?
2. What would you call it?
3. How would you use it?

Edit: (assume that cost is not an issue-- you have money to burn. Even if you live inland, just pretend you live near the coast)

---------------------------------------

Me:

1. I would be looking for something rather large, at least 200 feet long. (something like this would be promising) Probably the best way would be to buy a decomissioned commercial fishing or small cargo ship, strip it down to the hull, and completely refit it for my needs.

2. I would call it the Lusankya (anyone who figures out where that name came from w/o googling it gets a cookie)

3. I would atttempt to turn the boat into an income-producing asset. Since the boat would be fairly large and would likely have a big cargo hold that I could use as a large room, I could probably fit the ship to resemble a small luxury liner. I could then rent the ship out for meetings, proms, trips, etc. The rents i get from it might make the ship pay for itself, maybe even make a profit. (I haven't figured out the cashflow yet, so I'm not sure-- I'm just guessing here.)

It'd be one of those old aircraft carriers that periodically seem to be on sale on ebay. I'd call it the "Serenity". I'd use it to live in, and maybe hold paintball games in.

A boat's a boat, but the mystery box could be anything! It could even be a boat! You know how much we've always wanted one of those!

Average cardboard box, roughly 5 ft x 5 ft, with 2 foot walls.
Meiser (Miser, Meiser, however it's spelled)
I'd live in it with my pet algae named Carl (Ok, I don't have any pet algae named Carl)

That, or a pontoon of average size.
Pontoon (:P)
Driving out into the middle of some lake, pop open a Pepsi (not legally allowed to drink, you see) and relax. I love being on personal boats, they're comfortable.
I had a blog. It sucked.

I'd own a simple wooden house-sailboat. I'd call it S.S. Monet, and I'd live on it, using it as a theater for poetic inspiration.

2. The Destroyer.
3. Taking over small islands and running over other boats.

1. Something big enough for a few people to live in comfortably.
2. It's name would be Mr. Boat
3. I'd turn it into a house and live in it obviously. Then, after school was over and done with, I'd rent it at an insanely high price to college students, thus gaining profit. :D

And a 15' fiberglass daysailer.
And a wooden 15' daysailer/racer.

I havent named any of them yet though. I want a 30+foot wooden sailboat eventually. Being captain on a 100+foot schooner would be fun too. After I graduate I'll be going to the Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding. I like boats a bit.>.>

Yes, very much so. Theres around 2-3 months of warm weather a year, the rest is pretty cold. I guess theyed be fun in California though, with warm water.

And if I had a boat
I'd go out on the ocean
And if I had a pony
I'd ride him on my boat
And we could all together
Go out on the ocean
Me upon my pony on my boat

I would take one of the larger sail catamaran's, I was on what I think was a ~150 to 180 footer down in the Florida keys. Once you get those things out into the open waters you can really get some speed.

Name... No clue, depends on the actual character of the boat. I could just call it "The West Wind"... :D

As for using it, assuming I had the money for such a boat, I would try to do something stupid like sail along the coast starting in the Caribbean and following it through Central America to panama, then trying to get my little boat through the Panama canal. Finally I would follow the coast north again to California (yes, I would follow the Baja peninsula).

Isn't "Lusankya" Admiral Daala's flagship Super Star Destroyer? Or at least a SSD, from the Corran Horn series I believe?

Yep.

a medium sized sailboat - as to what I'd do with it? I live in Annapolis. Seriously. I don't know what I'd name it though
Fincham: Where are you going?
Me: I have no idea
Fincham: I meant where are you sitting. This wasn't an existential question.

Specifically, Lusankya was Isard's SSD from the X-Wing series of books.

1. Hmm...No yacht or other large craft. Too much to maintain. And I'd have to pay some form of a crew. Probably around 20' to 30'

2. Sovereign

3. Recreational most likely. Not much of a fisher. Can't store much cargo. I'd probably just steam out to some 15 miles from the U.S. coastline and just kickback and enjoy utter silence.

Kinda own one already (It's a Wavesport Super EZ)

1. 7 feet long
2. "The fat one" i guess, it's got a ridiculously high volume and now I've lost a bit of weight it doesn't sit in the water quite as well. Still, it's the first playboat I've ever fit into comfortably.
3. Whitewater playboating, 'cept I'm not all that great so half the time it's a boat for dunking my head underwater, making it difficult to roll and then making me swim :p
2005-11-29, 2:55 AM #24
As long as it can't sink and that it's virtually impossible to fall overboard. XD I'd be needing those features because I can't swim. =D

I'd probably call it the Sea Cucumber or some other geekish tribute.

A sail boat big enough for 3-4 people, and sturdy enough to cross the Atlantic. And that's also what I would do with it. And then continue over to the Pacific. I'm pretty sure I could find a few wackos to accompany me on such a journey around the globe.

The name of the boat would be SS Uppotukki. (If translated, that would be something like: SS Sunken Log.)

A 74 gun ship of the line.

It would be called "Niphredil."

I would sail the coast of China and attack those cheazy Chinese pirates with their speedboats and ak47s.

Olde European style pirates are clearly superior, and I'll prove it.

Stupid Annapolis and their stupid boat shows...

If I had a boat, it'd be a simple, smallish boat, and I'd name it Jenneh... er, or you know, the woman I love. I don't see myself doing much else on a boat except being romantic in any case :p

1,300 foot aircraft carrier with my own personal jet and helicopter

SS Tiyulo Santanaris

I would have a big *** motor on the back so it could go like 300-400 mph. :D Harnessing this great speed, I would create massive waves and drown the world. End of story.
