Snow Days
2005-11-29, 6:57 AM #1
Man, who here loves snow days? I know I do, because they got tacked on to the end of our Thanksgiving vacation--which makes it almost as long as our Christmas vacation. That's right, we've had two snow days in a row. My character's almost hit the level 20 limit on WoW too, so I'll have to register my cd key. Perfect way for senior year to go.

So what about you guys?

I hate Florida. You can't go outside and have fun on a hurricane day.

the only weather that gets us off school is 40 degrees celcius room temperature inside a school building, if it gets hotter than that, we have to go home as per Occupational health and safety requirements.

It rarely snows here, thus we rarely get school days. On the plus side, ack in high school, if it barely stated to snow they'd send us all home! :D But now I'm in college and only once have they cancelled closed campus due to snow. And it figured it was a Saturday.

We had a little snow last night, nothing much though.

We get snow days when people can't get into school. Which is pretty rare. Even in bitter cold, they just tell us to put coats on or what have you.

If we would get some free days because of snow, I'd wonder where I live.

I depise snow days, now that I'm in college. Why? Because it has to be cold enough to die from a little bit of exposure for school to close.

I'm a teacher, and I LOVE snow days!

Well, until the end of the school year when we have to make them up.

I've never even seen snow, let alone had class canceled because of it.

Although a few years back we had "fire days", and we occasionally have "earthquake days".
2005-11-29, 8:50 AM #12
I've only had classes cancelled once since being at my University and that was for hurricane Isabel in my first year.
2005-11-29, 8:52 AM #13
my school has heated sidewalks, so they don't cancel unless the professors can't make it :(

Ah, for the good old days. Now that I'm in uni, there's no such thing as a snow day. Back in kindergarten (a.k.a. highschool) they were great though.

I've never seen snow before with my own eyes in my entire life. The fact that it snowed only for 5 minutes in Southern California doesn't count.

Ofcourse you do, you're british, not a sissy american.

We haven't had a snow day since last January. Sudden 8 inches of snow stopped the buses from running.
nope.

Never had a snow day, ever. But we did have a bit of snow yesterday. Actually, it was a lot compared to what we usually get.

Snow Days rock, about 5 years ago I got sick and there was always a snow day when I was sick, it was so awesome. I also love snow, but in SE Illinois you can only get so much :( But it was snowing after school! :D

If we had snow days in finland, there'd be no school :(

We are so used to snow that school wont cancel unless it is like 3 feet high. Last year I walked home from school with snow up to my knees a number of times. :(

Duluth looks exactly like finland, and when we have a snow day, it's when something doesn't work. We were outside in "You'll die after 5 minutes of exposure to wind" weather last year because it was all windchill.

Oh man, I miss snow so badly. Not just for the snow days. We never had snow days in Boston. The only time we got off was when it was too cold. One time we got a long weekend because it was going to be too cold on Friday. They claimed it was so kids wouldn't get frostbite or hypothermia or whatever, but I think it was because they didn't want to have to heat the schools and pay the huge bill for it. It was damn cold though. They had pictures in the newspaper of a building that had caught on fire. The firefighters put it out, but the building ended up covered in a layer of thick ice.

Yoshi, are you horde on smolderthorn? I'll get you started with some things :D

Also, up here in Peterborough, ON, we've had one snow day due to a huge snowstorm and blowing snow. It was like Jedi Academy's distance cull out there. (OoOH!)

Level 18 Orc Warrior on Lightning's Blade. Doing pretty damn good for my level too (I can take out rogues, which is highly unusual. Most of the times rogues PWN you at this level in PVP).

But yeah, I'm kicking *** and taking names right now. \m/

We havent had any snow days yet, but we have lost power probably about 20 times so far since september. And 2 of those times have been for 24 hours or more.
