In the footsteps of SF_GoldG_01, I'm posting a girl problem thread! Wee! Only it's more of a guy problem to be honest. See - there's a girl I like in uni., but a certain dude who is one of her friends (just friends, nothing more) doesn't leave her alone for a moment. Literally.

Obviously, the dude's in love with her and is afraid of letting her attention slip from him or something, but WTF? Every second she's around, so is he. Anytime someone wants to tell her something, no matter how private, he gets in between you with this dumb face of his.

So, to ask her out do I:

1) Ignore the dude and just ask her?
2) Tell him someone's looking for him and get myself a minute or two? But that'll only work once.
3) Any better ideas?

The guy's a total botanic twig, and I've never been a bully, so physical confrontation is, of course, not the answer. I think.

PS. Sooo.... uh wtf?...

I'd say ignore him. She'd probably tell him anyway. Just waltz right up, give a nod to him and then completely ignore him and ask her out.

Just walk up to them and tell her, it'll be like a slap in the face to him.

While #2 would provide an easy opportunity for you, using a direct approach and asking her with him standing there would be far more effective. For one, it shows "Boldness", which is an attractive feature for women. For two, it'll likely take him down a notch. Lastly, never take the "easy" road. You get a higher pay off when you put the work and effort into doing things the right way.

Never take the easy road? That's the worst advice I've ever heard. Sure, there are times when doing something the longer, harder way does have a payoff, but to say never take the easy road is downright idiocy.

Anyway, just walk up to them, give a strange smirk to the guy, completely interrupt him (not her) then say, "Hey <girls name>, what are you doing for lunch? Wanna go to <local place here>?". Then, when she says yes, have a plan. Say "OK, I will meet you <here>, at this <time>. Sound good?"

Then, while she's busy thinking how wonder and awesome and amazing you are, turn to the guy and say "Sorry to interrupt. As you were." Then waltz off.

Alternatively, you could just walk away, or you could kick him in the teeth.

Make sure you use a british accent for this part...

You don't really have to ignore him that much, he can't really talk to her ALL the time surely? Just go up and say hi to her (without interrupting him that is - surely she wouldn't hang around with him if he didn't let any bloke speak to her...) ask her if she wants to do anything some time, name time, place, what etc

Just ask her out in front of him. It'll show her what a dude you are (since you're not intimidated by asking people out in public), but if he blows his top the game will also be up for him. On the other hand, if you lie to her friend and then whiiiiiiine about how he never leaves, she'll think you're an idiot and side with her friend. And then she'll see what a nice guy her friend is. And then he wins.
