I think the Sun is overrated. I mean, think about all the people that are talking about the Sun right now, and how many that are talking about other stars. It's ridiculously disproportionate, not to mention unfair. There are infinitely cooler stars out there.

And that's where this thread comes in. I’ve made it in hopes that you will list your favorite star _other than the Sun_, in order to counter the trend of mindless favoritism shown at it.

Oh yeah, almost forgot. Aldebaran is my favorite star, just 'cuz it has a cool name.

Andromeda's a galaxy, not a star. And as for my fave? Probably Alpha Centauri 'cause it's way cooler and there's a journey to it.

Becasue Zaphod Beeblebrox and Ford Prefect are from there. That's all the reason I need. That, and it sounds cool.

Indeed. Not only that, but it means Armpit in Arabic due to it's strategic location in the Orion constellation.

I always pictured Betelgeuse as more of a planet than a star. :/

The Sun is a mass of incandescent gas! It's a giant nuclear furnace! Where Hydrogen is built into Helium at a temperature of millions of degrees!

What's not to like?

Other than the Sun, my favorite star is Jupiter.

Jupiter was a gas planet last time I checked. Though it did become a star in 2010: Odyssey 2.

I hate when people like you use stupid quotes and statistics to make it look like you're smarter than me. It's a fact that 87% of people agree that Andromeda is a star... and Professor Stephen Hawking himself said "The common acceptance of Andromeda as a galaxy has yet to be put to the true test of scientific progress"

Basically, STEP OFF.

god, i even have more posts than you! do you realize this makes me better!?
