I really don't think it was necessary. This is far less "severe" than pugler was.

And everyone *****ed about suspending registration last time :p

admin approval would be better but would be a hassle for the admins

Don't be so hastey. He is just a minor problem that the admins have solved by perma-ip ban. There is no point of disableing sign-ups.

He won't figure out how to proxy or avoid the ip ban either. Massassi is quite safe.

One way of fixing the problem is simply ignoring him. If he posts another thread or makes posts, don't reply and immediately put him on ignore.

I mean, yes ban him but don't feed the trolls (tm) .. simply ban him without a single response and move on as if it hadn't happened.

It's not that it's not large enough, it's just that there's no real opportunity for growth with that in place because of its lack of popularity. :\

Except its easier to ban one or two people rather than sit here all day authorizing people to join. We do have things to do other than take care of this forum you know

It'd hardly be all day. You guys get what, maybe 10 a day? Honestly, authorizing that wouldn't be hard--take maybe 20 minutes out of your time. An hour if you got severely unlucky. I think between the admins you got, and hell even let moderators do it for ****s and giggles, you could EASILY have that job taken care of.

How will it keep trolls out?
Sure it will keep people from coming back numerous times if they get banned. If its a new member thats trolling, the authorization doesnt really help in that situation does it?

If they're new members it doesn't matter. It's those people who know how to use proxies and different email addresses you need to worry about.

I'm not saying you should do it, I'm just telling you there are advantages to it.
