I believe I'm the only person on Massassi with a 33.6K connection, and I want to make sure.

If you find yourself disliking my poll options, feel free to create your own poll.

I tried 56k few days ago. Holy hell that was annoying.

I used to be on a 28.8k dialup, not by choice. It was the only thing in the area.

Then I moved out, and now I have DSL.

33.6? Ouch. I was on one of those in the late nineties. And it was slow back then.

If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

Wow, when I said "any minute now" I didn't actually expect it to be literally only three minutes. :p

Anyways, my university is stupid. Last year the residence internet connections were quite fast (16 mb/s was the highest I got), but they built an entire new building and neglected to increase the network capacity. Now I'm lucky to break 1 mb/s.

I still like my wireless connection at home though; it's usually running around 1-1.5 mb/s, and we're out in the middle of nowhere. The radio signal actually has to go through a forest.

Haha. So good. So true.

Oh man! I hit the wrong one! I hit cable instead less than 56k rather than greater than 56k. I hate math...

Actually I got a Roadrunner Cable. All I can see is "beep! beep!." It's fast, and I'm always connected, no logging on. It's the best connection that is less than T1 out there.
The right man in the wrong place can make all the difference in the world.

Yeah. The best I've gotten was 48K on a dial-up. I don't think the FCC permits full 56,000 bps usage. I'm not positive of that claim though.
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

Yeah, you're right. The maximum speed is in theory 7KBps, but I've never heard of or seen anyone get that on a 56K.

I've got satellite, after 28k dial up. I feel your pain man, it sucks.

But so does satellite, no gaming. 10 kb/s up, 90 down.
I had a blog. It sucked.

RoadRunner here.

Awesome fast downstream, but incredibly slow upstream. I can't talk on Vonage (VoIP) and upload a file at the same time without the other person hearing crackling. If RR could give their customers more upstream, which they are more than capable of doing, I'd be much happier.

I can hardly wait till Verizon FiOS becomes avaialble.
