Well, just watched it (my roommate bought the subtitled version)..
I must say it was extremely awesome....

Certain parts were difficult to understand (subtitles were quick in places) but I got the basics of it.... I will have to watch it... MORE!

Very good... and funny too.

indeed... it was an awesome film. some friends and i used a classroom here to watch it (projector and in-ceiling surround sound... too bad the school doesn't technically allow us to do that ;))

unfortunately the subs messed up in one point... i freaked everyone out when i translated the dialogue for a few seconds (=

Are they making an English version?

Yes, there's an English version in the works. It should hopefully be released early 2006.

I know I am definitely looking forward to seeing it.

My roommates are managers at a movie theatre, and they are gonna hook their DVD player up to one of the digital projectors and watch it after closing... I'm gonna have to go.. it'll be sweet.

I actually read a rumour saying one of the reasons for pushing back the US release date to 2006 was for a possible theatrical release. Of course, I wouldn't hold my breath on that happening.

Ug, I liked the visual aspects, but only a FF7 nerd could have enjoyed that movie. The plot was so haplash and slopped together, it felt like I was watching a porn: "It doesn't matter WHY they're f[ight]ing, just enjoy the sexy w[epo]n and b[om]bs/[s]ex[plosions]!"

And thus, the flames commenced :gbk:

OMGCONSTRUCTIVE:

i dont feel like the plot was "slopped together" at all.

They simply found an aspect of the game they could exploit. Although I don't disagree with the FF7 nerd comment, since i've seen the film with non-ff7 fans and they didnt understand a second of it.

However, the plot, i felt, was great. It created a new dimension to the moral aspect of FF7 and added on it, granted, this moral used a lot of technobabble that would mean nothing to a non-FF7 fan, it still managed to bulk up the FF7 storyline in a way that worked well for people who were familiar with the storyline. From what I hear, the film was created for fans, as an expanded outro sequence, as opposed to a film that would let more people be introduced to the game.

Or, you know, an action movie? Get your head out of the gutter, boy. They've been making bad movies for far longer than they've been making poorly-acted pornos.

FF7 Nerd? Not really. Maybe someone who played the game, but not a nerd.

The plot was fine--you probably just didn't understand it.
