Weird things popping up on my computer...

Yeah, it's strange. I get a folder under C:\Program Files called 'hide two save' and in it an executable called active skip.exe. It runs itself and tries to access the Internet (ZoneAlarm catches it) and I find that going Task Manager --> End Process and then deleting the folder does the trick, but does anybody know what it is, why it's there and what it's doing?

delete it. If you didn't put it there (and windows obviously didn't) then it shouldn't be there.

It doesn't sound like anything that a legit program would install.

Old aunts used to come up to me at weddings, poking me in the ribs and cackling, telling me, "You're next." They stopped after I started doing the same thing to them at funerals.

This is what we call spyware. Run and update Adaware. Now.

... And Spybot. Using only one of them will only give you half the protection of using both.

Spybot doesn't get rid of browser hijackers a lot of the time, or BHO's for that matter. This one needs adaware.

It can sometimes...it kept restoring spyware that AdAware was removing for me.

I've done lots of research in this area and all the 'experts' say that you should run Spybot first, then run AdAware...
