Well, I can only assume that new programs have come out since then. And Run hasn't been around for ages, so I though I might try a round of hosting this. Accumulated forum knowledge is always of use.

The format is:

Subject:

Name: Linked name
Description: What exactly the program does.
OS: Operating systems that it can run on.
Cost: Freeware, shareware, trial software w/o spyware, trial software with spyware, or pay only, ect.

Example:

AUDIO

Name: Audacity
Description: Record, play, export audio tracks in WAV, AIFF, OGG, MP3, add effects etc
OS: Windows, Linux, Mac
Cost: Free

I don't know about windows programs any more, but there's a little devil for mac I can't live without:

Mac OS X

It's a launcher at first glance, but there's much more to it (so much I don't know). It basically works like spotlight, but soley for apps and it's a godsend, and it's FREE.

CCleaner

There is no better system cleaning software. It's under a meg, cleans in seconds, and has a excellent user interface.

The Geek Squad proprietary tools are much more efficient.

Shameless Geek Squad plug there.

It's free, open source, you don't have to bother with a crack or hitting OK after 30 days.

Misc:

Name: SpaceMonger
Description: Calculates the amount of disk space taken up by the various folders on your hard drive. Great for trimming dead weight. Unfortunately, it's somewhat unstable, so it's best to delete folders in explorer instead of using their built-in delete feature.

plus it can compress things better than winrar

I use space monger to find "large caches of files that the client doesn't know how it got there"

Really? That is exactly what I use Hamachi for as well... Every couple of weeks a friend and I meet together to play shock over hamachi...

GOD I loved LeechFTP.

No extra crap, It didn't take 9 conjillion hours to get a queue going, and it minimized to the systray.

That and it was easy on the resources.

And it's hella stable too.
