LONG DESCRIPTION
,
for those interested... If you are, it's worth it! (IMO):Enemy Territory is at root the stock WWII Online Team Based Axis v. Allies shooter. However, it has done a number of things to break the mold, and is quite addictive and entertaining. There are several classes to choose from, including Engineer, Soldier, Medic, Heavy Weapons, and Covert Ops. Each class has specific weapons, and usually a choice of weapons in the class itself. Each class has specific abilities and responsibilities as regards the gameplay. The maps are usually organized into assault v. defense, with one team guarding some vital component. Multiple points must be overtaken or objectives secured before the assaulting team can move onto the final goal. A quick breakdown of the maps follows:
GAMEPLAY
The basic gameplay revolves around Engineers completing various objectives like
1) creating/destroying/repairing barriers, walls, structures(water pumps) and doors
2) repairing/disabling vehicles (tanks, trucks... these aren't driveable, but the tank features a mounted MG)
3) destroying/disabling weapon emplacements (MGs, Railgun, Naval Gun, Anti-Tank Guns, Gun Controls)
While being supported by Covert-Ops, Medics, Soldiers, Heavy-Weapons, etc!
MAPS
Radar: The allied team starts from a house in a rainy nighttime map. The goal is to push past the axis defense, capture a bunker, and move into a fortified compound, surrounded by hills, to capture two radar dish components and return them to a truck located outside the bunker after either penetrating the main wall via. engineer-planted dynamite or a side entrance.
Railgun: The axis must escort a traincar past the allied defenses to reach a depot yard. At this yard, ammo for the massive railway gun is loaded on, and then the Axis must transport it back in order to load it onto the gun, construct or repair the firing controls, and fire the gun.
Fuel Dump: Allies open the map on asssault, and must escort a tank across a bridge, which the Allied engineers must construct, thru a mountain tunnel, out into the front of a fortified Axis Fuel Dump. The tank, when it reaches this point (after constantly being repaired by Allied engineers) must destroy the main gate, and, optionally, the side wall, allowing the Allied Cover Ops and Engineers to penetrate the base interior and destroy the fuel dump with dynamite.
Seawall Battery: The axis must rush up a beach, create an assault ramp, enter a dense, concrete Axis base, and destroy a massive naval gun mounted within. A back door also yields easy passage for a disguised Allied covert ops or anyone who the Axis are stupid enough to open the door for from the inside.
Siwa Oasis: The Allied team is on assault, and is required to first capture a spawn in the central city(which looks tight), and then dynamite a wall to secure access to the fort. The fort houses two anti-tank guns, which the Allies endeavour to destroy w/ dynamite. There is a simple series of underground tunnels that can be emptied/flooded by the opposing teams by destroying or repairing pumps. (To this point I've largely been talking about engineers, because they are central to the objectives, but all classes play a large role!)
Goldrush: Perhaps the most fast-paced of the maps. A dense North African city provides the arena for another map featuring the Allies on assault. They must lead a tank thru the city, destroying axis-constructed/repaired tank barriers along the way, in an effort to reach a bank, destroy the main door, and steal the gold crates inside. The crates are then rushed to a waiting truck, which, after being repaired, must be led out of the city.
These are the shrub maps only.
