New Game options
2005-12-19, 9:49 PM #1
Ok, I'm getting a new game as a christmas preasent for myself.
I'd been planning on getting Brothers in Arms: Earned in blood.
I really enjoyed the demo but I just want to see what other options there are.

I want a really good single player shooter/adventure thing. no RTS or RPG.
What I know I don't want:
Q4
Battlefeild2
battlefront2

oh, and PC games only.

Thanks.

Ok, sorry... with all the restrictions, my brain kinda shut down...

I enjoyed F.E.A.R. and CoD2... though, we don't know what you already have. HL2? Doom 3? Far Cry? Those are all good.

I really wanted to try FEAR, but for some odd reason the demo didn't work, so with as much as I want that, if there's a chance the full game my not work, can't do it.

I've got HL2, didn't like the demos of the others, keep the sugestions coming though, thanks.

You -need- to get Call of Duty 2.
It's just... absolutely... amazing.

well I have COD and the demo of COD2 didn't really impress me.

Trying to say somthing there Jon?
I think understand what you mean by the first 2 quotes,
the q4 demo was fun but didn't feel any different from any other FPS I've player.
And I just don't like RTS & RPG gameplay.

I'm lost on the last one though. I don't have any consoles so PC is my only option.
care to elaborate?

Oh.

Well, the singleplayer shooter thing - Ever since Q3 and UT came out almost all of them have been multiplayer games with lukewarm SP options at best. Quake 4 is the best singleplayer FPS in quite a few years.

Consoles rule the adventure game. Especially the Gamecube, in my opinion, where there are a TON of adventure titles. It's cheap too. You should consider buying one (or buying the Revolution when it comes out).

Almost all RPGs are technically Adventure games nowadays, and vice-versa. That notwithstanding, the world of singleplayer is especially dominated by the RPG and RTS genres.

And here's a bonus cyborg because I have nowhere else to upload it:

As far as adventure games go check out Indigo Prophecy (also known as Fahrenheit in the UK I think).

Psychonauts. It's crazy, has awesome design, and magnificent gameplay.

It's already been said, but both FEAR and CoD2 kick major booty.

If you like WW2 shooters then definitely get CoD2.
