Digital camera vs. pedals

Ah, thrown in a loop again this year for christmas. Asked for some new effects pedals ( Big Muff Pi, dunlop crybaby), but my parents got me a new digital camera ( Kodak Z740 ). I'm really grateful for it, and I guess it would come in handy in a few months when I move to europe for a year. But still, I feel like a brat saying this, but I was never really into photography, I already have an analog, and my traveling partner has a digital as well.

Having a camera is nice, it's not like I didn't like it. Then again, I'm much much much more into playing right now, it's my life. Having these pedals would be a big relief as far as performance goes, I wouldn't have to use crappy digital effects from my computer when recording, or have to borrow friends pedals for performing.

I don't know how my parents would take it, but I'm caught between asking them if I can take it back and buy the pedals I want, or just keep the camera. Plus, what if the camera gets lost or stolen? You could say the same for the pedals too, if I bring them or my guitar. Anyone have any ideas?
