And seriously, not being able to delete a post is a pain in the arse. We all ready had an argument about this, and the bottom line was that people should be able to delete there own posts.

And I think I was one of those who started a thread about it -- that we should be able to delete, that is.

Wow, that was a while ago...

Lookie here

Ya know, that would've been a great way to make a point - "Accidently" typing "dildo" instead of "dilio." [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

Well, it forces you to creatively and imaginitively edit your post when you accidently double post, trying to make it look like you meant to post twice and you don't like totally like an *** .

It's simple. Don't post things you will later regret and want to delete. I can't tell you how many times I've hit the back button after writing a reply because I simply felt it wasn't worth it.

I think the real drawback here is people that make multiple posts. This is very easy if the forums are going slow, or if you're on a slow connection, and there's no way to correct it other than moaning at a Moderator to delete it. It's the same with Livejournal comments. It's quite annoying, really.

But it is also quite annoying if someone posts something, and several people respond to it, and then the original poster deletes it making the respondents look silly (this happens frequently when posts are deleted).

I remember when I tried to delete a post I made in the past, the stupid parge would just HANG forever when I hit the submit key. This is aggraviting in times when you right something you KNOW you shouldn't have wrote and want to kill the post quickly before someone replies. I would just give up close the browser when it hangs and hope it went through. Sometimes, it does go through but at other times, I have to just edit the post. It's very annoying.

Post and thread deletion are definately options we need to keep. I've used it way too many times for it to be considered obsolete, whether it be double posts, posts that were written while someone else's was submitted, resulting in said post's uslessness, or simply threads gone all wrong. I don't understand this debate over why we should be prohibited from these features - they're useful to us as users, and nothing is lost by allowing us access to them.

I've had to do that a lot too. If I had posted them, my current post count might have been doubled by now [/exag]

Yeah, or the post you make becomes worthless because someone beat you to the draw while your were typing. Then what? Guess I have to leave it, or put some stupid remark in it's place.
For example. (That's where I first noticed this little inconvenience.)

I think it's funny that no admins have replied to this. Anywho, this is the first time I've heard of it and I'll talk to people and see why it's been changed.

^Yeah. It's really annoying when you raise an issue and the only official response is no response, or a psychotic one.

As for why none of you are allowed to delete your posts, I pioneered the abuse of that particular feature.
