Floppy Drive Face Plate
2004-06-06, 1:04 PM #1
I was wondering if anyone knew where I could buy a silver face plate for an empty floppy drive bay. I have a beige face plate covering it right now, however I'd like something that matches the color of my case.

Is it metallic silver or just a flat silver? If it's not metallic with a sheen, pick up some vinyl dye at your local auto parts or paint store. It actually soaks in and dyes the plastic, just like it's from the factory. Far superior to paint. Only catch is that it's limited to flat colors.

Or look for some Krylon Fusion that will stick to plastic. It saves a lot of priming and sanding.

for a shiny silver, spray paint it. Granted, you won't get a mirror-grade reflection, but there's nothing that will give you that that I can think of.

You can get mirror finishes with spray paints, sanding and rubbing compounds. But his case won't have a mirror finish I doubt, so he probably wants metallic silver or chrome paint. Be careful, they ARE different.
