so.. whats this I hear about forum rules?
2004-06-05, 2:42 PM #1
You closed a thread which was short.. so you get a new topic thats a discussion about it! Before you neglect to really read what I have typed.. consider this idea.. Structure the profile system to be public.. Withn a private (logged in community) to do a messaging system back and forth between members. I think this idea will cut down on personal related posts that end up getting deleted. Now that I have your intrest read on.

I mean.. I hear of them.. I dont really see them that much, I hear people get yelled at for posting in the wrong topic.. I hear people getting yelled at for adding in personal information.. so what if people know who I am? this is a discussion forum right?

this is what it says under discussion forum... General Discussion about anything and everything allowed by the rules.

Make sure you're posting on the correct board. If you have an editing question, it goes on the editing board. If there's a forum specifically for your topic, make sure to post it there. If it doesn't fit anywhere else, put it in the general discussion board. So contacting someone unkown of thier e-mail is a wrong choice?

If you have a personal issue, keep it personal. We don't want our forums clogged up with posts specifically for one person. If it can be handled over email, take it to email. For it to be personal, you would have to know the person in person right? this being the net and as private as it is. how could relations of working or talking of a project be personal, when the sw community itself is involved?

I mean, all i would want is arkons e-mail. My last one had its password changed. http://forums.massassi.net/html/Forum3/HTML/002072.html there is a post no one replied to. I mean I know what I have to do now.. Just if you had persay lost very important school work.. Needed someones e-mail.. when yours was destroyed by a relative messing around on your computer.. fried your HD with a virus.. lets say this was a admin to a regular member.. of course it would get deleted because of rules right?

So if this did happen.. and its important, "We don't want our forums clogged up with posts specifically for one person." would applie to everyone. as my drill sergant had said.. "suck it up soilder, rules are rules.. disobey them and you get a swift kick in the butt.." So to follow and obey a rule, one must enforce as well aprehend right? If admins want to contact regular members in my case, I am just a regular member wanting to contact another. Its not allowed to bring my personal issues in here. Seeing I dont have issues.. This is were I get a big headache from all of this BS confusion of messed up rules..

In a way I would say massassi rules are flawed and in itself a oxymoron. Buhtthe thing I was getting to say was.. if admins post personal info on the discussion board.. refering to a member.. about information of them lossing thier e-mail password, it being a lost cause, losing contact information.. or IM related contacts.. they need to make a new e-mail, be devious and post a personal message in a thread related to the topic rules.. the admin would get no penalties but the member would?

Wow.. what a life we live! I would go with the rules on sucking it up.. Pick away at this thread my prittys.. I think this calls for ideas on making the member system more user friendly.. such as personal messengeing... so.. "we have want our forums clogged up with posts specifically for one person." its time consuming as it is saving on memory/traffic space.. I wounder what I will come up with next... peace out!

A forum re-write is in progress...or planned...and member messaging is one of the features being talked about. I definitely hope it's added, but yeah until that time topics like the one you are refering to need to be discouraged to prevent the forum clogging up.

What?
2004-06-05, 3:09 PM #4
Well Its about time you guys get a messaging service going.. I mean it would greatly cut down on personal related problems.. like these links here is what I am really refering too..

I am not posting these to flame or make bias remarks..
http://forums.massassi.net/html/Forum1/HTML/035491.html
*take special notice to this one..*http://forums.massassi.net/html/Forum1/HTML/035495.html
http://forums.massassi.net/html/Forum1/HTML/035492.html
http://forums.massassi.net/html/Forum1/HTML/035497.html

The computer ones are in the wrong forum.. the martin luther essay one is homework related.. its debaitable only because its to ask a question to understanding something..

Then again its post hjaking against forum rules on getting information regarding personal school related work in no one gives out a result or reward to the other helping. I am only mentioning this because I see people get away with murder and find it fustraiting because they carry a sense of favour from admins.. I think you guys and gals should reform the forum rules and be strict.. I mean I apaulde you closing my other thread.. but I suppose that was a wake up call? as this is too?

People do what they want, whether it be by choice, stupidity, or just not knowings
Have you noticed those thread in the wrong place are moved, most of the time.
You ever tried getting an answer in the Tech forum? There is only one or two people that answer in there, you get more varity by posting it in the General Discusion.
Editing questions are put in the editing forum by people who have been around longer, one sees the editing questions asked about mainly by the few THAT DON'T KNOW BETTER.
and last, Flame wars happen over the littlest things, deal with it it happens all the time in life, why can't it here?

Am I the ONLY one who likes these forums the best out of ANY? They are fast and user friendly. Yeah they are a bit hard on mods and admins..but it's something I am willing to live with [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif] . I dont like the crap where you have to log in, then it has to load a page all slow. All these sexy graphics and avatars and what not. Private Message system. We have never had a problem with that before. If you have a message for someone, get a chat program, or use e-mil or the phone or write a letter.

Personally I've never much cared for the Tech forum as people who would give advice don't go there that often. Conversely I've come to disagree a bit with the idea of closing some of the smaller forums because they weren't used as often as the big ones.....I've felt this way especially since both the SWG and MMORPG forums were closed, I dunnno it seems like a mini part of the community was lost.

Grammar Nazi my ***. This is 3rd grade English I'm talking about. There were parts that I couldn't understand because of the excessive use of "..." and fragment sentences. It's like he was on 'shrooms or something.

Dont talk to me or respond to my presence. I dont want to make any issues with you. Stay out of my hair and I will stay out of yours. Do me a favor and stop being a dik. No I dont do "shrooms", I dont have the time to do it like you nor would I have the desire to.

So admins, before Horn boy talks or replies. Do me a favor and close this thread. I have had enough of the bs going on in my life. I dont need this kid being a hippocrite telling what I should and shouldnt do.

one semi-serious criticism and you go on the defensive. Don't worry, I wasn't attacking you. If I wanted to attack you, I'd do it in a lot more ruthless way than that.

I'm sorry you have BS in your life. I don't know the extent, so I'll assume the worst. But that still doesn't give you immunity from people correcting you.
