hey i was wonering where you guys well some of the major LOTR fans learned how to read the elfish print or whatever was in the books.

Go to your local bookstore. It should have at least five different Elven to English dictionaries.

...how does that constitute ownage? Granted according to Tolkien's language and books and everything it's spelled elvish, but the "correct" english spelling is elfish.

But this little difference made also the spelling in the German translation different. There it says "Elben" and not "Elfen" and Tolkien was quite happy with it, as he wanted to distinguish between elves and elfs.
