No it's Serenity.

I just rented it and finally saw it.

That. Was. Amazing.

So well , cast was done so well, wonderful story that somewhat took from Starcraft's story , with the Alliance creating the Reevers .

I am for certain buying this DVD, and looking for the Firefly DVD.

Uh...post your thoughts on the movie?

Oh, and Jewel Staite is HOT.
I had a blog. It sucked.

Firefly/Serenity is the best sci-fi anything ever, and it's really the cast that makes it work. They're all so... perfect.

We watched it on new years eve over chinese food. Pure awesomeness.

After that we drank about 10 cans of pop each, 3 bags of chips (total of course >_>) more chinese food and played WoW. That was a kick *** night.

Serenity was good, but nothing great. It didn't feel like a movie. Oh no, they created the reavers. Whoo. So epic. It was more like a two-part season finale.

I think mostly that fell a little flat because the whole idea of the reavers was sort of flung past. "Hey guys these are reavers they're really bad and kill people and oh no we created them"

Finally, dude! I've been ragging on you about it for ages. :D

Y'know. I had that same feeling too. The beginning I was wondering where stuff was going. I was unsure of who the real bad guys were. I knew the methodical emotionless black dude was someone not good.

Other than that, I thought it was good.

Yeah, that was the real problem. It was like, yeah, the reavers suck...but they never really did THAT much bad. It wasn't like they were overrunning half the galaxy. Most people didn't even think they existed.

Loved it. I agree the Reaver thing was sort of dulled down, especially if you hadn't seen the shows. But I still loved it.

If you've seen the movie, but not the shows; BUY THE SEASON DVDS, WATCH THEM IMMEDIATLY. Especially if you liked the movie.

Oh, also, don't pirate them unless you are going to buy them aswell, support it, they need every DVD sale they can get.

So.. im thinking about picking up Firefly on dvd cause of all the like, talk and such. Is it worth the money? Im not one to just go throwing good money on a chance.
2006-01-03, 12:01 AM #27
It's definitely worth the money. I got the DVDs for Christmas, and I've watched the series 3 times since then. The show is just so... charming.

Isn't it getting picked up by Sci Fi?

-I've heard it's sexcellent and a half. My Societies of the Future teacher promises he'll show it in class if he got it for Christmas.
2006-01-03, 1:40 AM #29
Sci Fi has been playing Firefly epsidoes, I believe.
2006-01-03, 1:47 AM #30
I also just bought and watched Serenity. It was pretty good, although the the little girl holding off all the Reavers by herself was dumb. I mean, how terrifyingly scary can they be if a little girl (albiet a talented one) can defeat a batallion of them?

Also, I agree with people saying there should be a trilogy. The movie just felt like it was the beginning of something, not the end of the TV series.

Laughing at my spelling herts my feelings. Well laughing is fine actully, but posting about it is not.

Not just talented. Gifted to an insane degree. So gifted she was taken by scientists and subjected to mind control because she was a deadly weapon of mass destruction in a neat little package.
You can't judge a book by it's file size
2006-01-03, 4:38 AM #33
I just watched it a few days ago, and I think you'll appreciate the movie more if you watch the show first.

I thought the movie felt like a two-hour special too, but since I've seen the show, that's kinda what was needed, especially after the way the show ended.

FYI, the SCI-FI channel (US side) is showing Firefly all day Friday.

i like the idea that he is from the previous generation of no nonsense black assassins/bounty hunters that seem to be popping up. :p

I haven't seen Firefly or Serenity. I'm guessing that I should start with Firefly? My girlfriend wants to see Serenity because of the director, but to me, the acting looked really bad in the trailer (more like a made for TV movie). However, you can't judge a movie by its trailer, so I think I'll check it all out.
2006-01-03, 11:16 AM #36
Watch Firefly a bit before Serenity I say. Sci-fi showed the entire series a few days before the movie came out, so I was set. Picked up the Firefly DvD on the way back from the cinema.

Good Stuff. :D
nope.
2006-01-03, 11:54 AM #37
I saw Serenity before Firefly, and I have no problems with that.

When I saw the trailer, I thought it looked really dumb. But there's nothing dumb about the movie, and the acting is very good.
2006-01-03, 11:56 AM #38
I saw Firefly almost 2 years ago, perhaps it would be time to see it again (even though they just started reairing it, but I missed it... dang).

Also, Serenity won't probably ever arrive here so blah.

Morena whatserface, Inara, is prolly the worst actor among them... or maybe she just doesn't jive w/ being the companion, but her lines are kinda awkward at times, it seems. But hell, I love the movie/series.... got both on DVD :), oh, and lookie what my GF got me for Xmas:
