Not too bad, right?, considering it's 849 CAD here in Future Shop.

So...Should I go for it or not?
2006-01-03, 1:35 PM #3
What's it go for new?
Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

I got one of those for about $600 in November 2004. How is Future Shop still selling them for $849?

DON'T DO IT.

I got one of those for 350$ CAN about 2 months ago. Shop around man, don't pay such a crazy price!!!

Even the bigger badder Gforce 7800 GTX is around 600$ CAN. There's gotta be a mistake somewhere. O.o

wow. I'm contemplating getting an 256 mb ati card for $28, and even that seems like a bunch.

I'm sure your gizmo's got better pixel shading and meshing and all those technical terms, but that seems rediculous.

But I suppose if you're hXc about gaming...wait and shop around, like Jep said.
It took a while for you to find me; I was hiding in the lime tree.

I just ordered a 6800GT from NewEgg:

this one here
"Harriet, sweet Harriet - hard-hearted harbinger of haggis."
2006-01-03, 2:18 PM #8
That's so wrong. 400 bucks for a 6800GT? Search around, I know you can find one for at least 400 CAD.

As everyone's said. Thats way too expensive.
Life is beautiful.

Dude, it's coming from Hong Kong. If the international shipping isn't enough to deter you, that it's coming from Hong Kong should.
Pissed Off?

Thanks a lot guys for the replies.

I've looked around everywhere, even futureshop.ca has it listed at 849$ Can. I cant find it anywhere for lower prices. Even tigerdirect.ca doesnt have it listed on their site anymore.

did you check chewbubba's link? his 6800GT was $285

That's american pricing. And last I checked at newegg (I could be wrong) their products were available to America only.

EDIT: Not only that.. But I believe his link is a PCI express card. I only have AGP.

IF ANyone can provide a link to an AGP 6800 GT that is either around 400 CANADIAN or under, I would be much appreciated.. I've been looking forever.

It might be cheaper for you to move to the US
2006-01-03, 8:21 PM #15
Dont thinK I havent considered that one :p
2006-01-03, 8:27 PM #16
Have you considered having it shipped to someone in the US and them shipping it to you? It might be cheaper.

Never considered that. But even if I did, there's obody in teh USA that I would know other than off the internet.. And I certainly dont trust someone off the internet enough with 400 of my money.

But everyone at Massassi is so honest!
2006-01-03, 8:37 PM #19
I have no doubt in that...

But I have doubts if most people around here would uphold honesty if they had 400 dollars worth of Temperamental's money
:p
2006-01-03, 8:40 PM #20
I would.

But I'm not gonna offer to do it b/c of potential complications and b/c i don't expect you to trust me based solely on my word :).

But I would get it to you.
2006-01-03, 8:40 PM #21
I would!

But that doesn't help you any.

I would...but I really don't like shipping stuff to Canada -- too much of a hassle, plus you may get hit with a customs fee.
woot!

Been searching google for hours now.. I cant find one. Damnit.

EDIT: Another thing I noticed.. The 850 XT is much cheaper than the 6800 GT... Yet people here say they are basically similar totally in performance... If this is true, then wouldnt it be more beneficial to go for a 850XT?

SECOND EDIT: OK. I found this card on sale now for at Futureshop.ca.. Here is the link, it's 299.99, sale on for only 24 more hours..

So which should I do.. I want a new graphics card that will run all of todays games as best as possible for at least a year or so, it doesnt have to be OMFTWTFBBQ as I clarified earlier.. It is just something to tide me over for a year or so so I can at least RUN games for the next couple years (even if not at all high settings, at least decent FPS either way)

Again.. Which should I do.. Get this one? Or shop and go for a 6800 GT?

To be honest, I would (done similar stuff before) but I doubt you'd trust me.

I'd say go with the X850XT. It's better than the 6800GT. In fact, I was about to suggest searching for an X800XL, because it's similar to the 6800GT and you may be able to find it cheaper.
