....OTHER than arial and other sans serif fonts that are very similar, which would it be?

I'm on Linux, so I don't actually have any of those fonts except Arial and Times New Roman. The rest just get mapped to Serifs, and I think Verdana gets mapped to Helvetica.

If a HTML page uses proper font faces I'll still get monospace, serif, sans-serif and stuff, but if it uses literal font names I'm SOL.

definately fixedsys. it rocks. :)

But I'm too lazy to change from the default font.

So install the prope fonts, lazy man! Debian has a package, and so does Gentoo.

Garamond is pretty unreadable. I'd pick that one.

Yes I know, but arial is worse. I didn't say garamond was good for the screen, I just said it was an excellent font.

Yeah, I know for a fact Garamond is used in the Harry Potter books.

And Century Gothic is my favorite font. It just looks awesome.

*Shudder* god no! I couldn't take that font back when I had Windows 95 and I can't take it now!

There's a whole Facebook group dedicated to it..."Stop Using Comic Sans." Yes, though, I realize the nature of your post was sarcastic.

the problem with comics sans is that even as a comic book font, it's terrible

verdana should look good as long as it's not too large, it was designed specifically for screen usage (arial and helvetica were not) as a body text
