Does any one know if the Stargate movie was ever released on DVD? I've been trying to get my hands on it and so far, I've only come across VHS (and obviously I'm not interested in that.)

Yes, there have been a few releases of the Stargate movie.
The best one is the Ultimate Edition the released around 2004 I think.

Wal-Mart sells the Ultimate Edition on the $7.50 racks which comes with both the theatrical and director's cuts and a nice amount of extras. The director's cut isn't very different from the theatrical cut, but it's nice nonetheless.

The Ultimate Edition stands out as it has a bright gold colored slip over the case.

Yeah, the Ultimate Edition is good. It has a couple deleted scenes and stuff. I also recommend getting the seasons of SG-1 on DVD. I have 3, 5, 6, and 7 right now. :)

Yes...I remember when DVD players were starting to *make* a name for themselves about 6 years ago and you could buy a DVD player and get like 6 movies free.

One of the 6 movies was always Stargate.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

The movie is far superior to the show.
I remember a while back (a few years, maybe a lot of years) Dean Devlin was trying to get fans to petition against letting MGM make a movie of the show. He wanted to make a sequel to the original, and MGM wanted to make a movie of the show. I already said it twice, so here's the third. A movie of the show.
I started the petition.
I got around 90 sigs, then the website got shut down.

-I've since given up on Stargate. I just found the old VHS under my TV when I moved it to make room for the Christmas tree, and watched it. Good times. Bad memories.
