The saga of quitting smoking continues
2006-01-05, 2:57 PM #1
Yeah, so I quit smoking back before Christmas, if anyone remembers the thread I posted back then.

Things were going pretty good, since I was back home with my parents for the holidays, and no one around me back home smokes.

Since I've been back in Montreal (the 3rd), and more importantly since I've been back at work and school, I've been having a really hard time. My boss is a chain smoker, and even though he knows I quit, he keeps offering me cigarettes and asking me when I'm going to start again. My buddies at school do the same, since they all smoke. Most of them have tried quitting at one point or another, and they have obviously all failed, and they probably think that I will too.

Today in a moment of weakness, I bought a pack of smokes. I had 2 smokes out of the pack before I got in to work, where when I walked in, I dropped a $5 bill on the counter without saying a word, since I had a bet going with my friend (who I happen to have severe hots for) that I was going to quit for good.

She laughed at me, and frisked me for my pack of smokes (:D), and once she got them, took them from me and threatened to throw them out. I naturally begged for them back (being a ****ing addict and all), and then she offered me back my $5 if she could keep the pack.

Anyways, it was just nice to have somebody actually care about me quitting, after everyone kept telling me that I was never going to be able to. She really made my day, and we're supposed to be seeing each other later. :D

Thanks, man. What made it easier for me to actually stop smoking was to feel the need to stop. If you only want to stop, the addiction just makes it impossible. You need to feel like you NEED to stop. Hang out with some non-smokers that will hate you if you smoke around them, or something.

Best of luck with that, dude.

Best of luck, my aunts are both heavy smokers, twas' a funny moment at christmas dinner when my grandmother asked my aunts daughter, who has also been smoking for the past 2 years ( shes 19), if she smokes alot, and my cousin replied, "oh no, not at all, only about 2 packs a day", i spewed most of my lemonade everywhere and burst out laughing when i heard this, 2 packs a day is quite more than not smoking that much. Made me laugh anyways, sorry, dumb rant.

Best of luck to ya, get addicted to sex or something more pleasurable and healthy

I smoke about 10-15 rollies a day.

Works out cheaper, at around a £7.50 a week, rather than £35

So is this thread about you quitting smoking, or about that girl? Seems to me you wouldn't mind having a few more bets like that with her so she gets to frisk you each time.

That's really mean of your boss and friends, have you told them seriously to stop bugging you?

And yeah, just try hanging out with non-smokers more (like this girl!)

That happened to me once. She got me smoking hookah with her and then I got addicted and kept coming back for more... :(

I'm trying to get one of my friends to quit at school with one of his buddies, but it's turning him all against us. All his other friends smoke, too.

I wouldn't try and get someone to quit smoking. It's something they have to do themselves. Help never hurt but if they don't want to. Dont force it.

My friend quit smoking a few months ago. I always tease him and ask him if he wants one.. but he still smokes more weed than anyone I know so it's like oh whats the point really.

Weed isn't addicting (physically) and isn't AS harmful (mainly because you don't smoke as much, and there aren't all these weird-*** chemicals in it).

But that's besides the point--smoking sucks :p

If you smoke weed enough, your body can become chemically dependent on it. It may not have chemicals but Im sure you get some ressen(sp???) build up in your lungs hah..

Hahahaha no. No your body cannot become chemically dependent on THC. You do get carcinogens in small amounts when you smoke weed, and there's still a form of tar buildup in your lungs, but it's not as bad, nor as lethal as cigarette smoking.

Yoshi, stop defending weed. You don't know diddly-squat about drugs so stop thinking you do. Also stop turning threads into flame wars.
Think while it's still legal.
