I see it has a Manual Transmission... excellent. :D Always seems a waste to have a nice car with an auto trans.

not if it's a bentley, rollsroyce, maybach, 7 series, or any other flagship car.

for sporty cars though, you're absolutely right.

Not so much a waste of car as much as is it is a waste of gas. Especially when I have to drive at leat 50 miles a day to work and back.

Not to mention automatic transmission is expensive and difficult to fix when it craps out.

Next time you drive I bet a wheel will fall off.

I don't know why. It just will.
2006-01-07, 8:47 PM #20
Nah. I know the guy I bought it from. He's trustable. This is the 2nd car I've bought from him.

Every time I see the topic title, I read 'New Carl' and I'm thinking: 'damn, what happened to the Old Carl?' Good to see you haven't replaced your old Carl though.

Nice voiture. The guy who has a topic saying 'The funkiest car you'll see today', lies.

You have stuff dangling from your rear view mirror. Therefore, you lose. :p

However, your neighborhood is better than mine. :(

around 106,250-ish when I bought it, but there's several hundred more miles on it since then. Just had new bearings put it the wheels. Still runs really smoothly.

Looks nice! Although I must admit there are way too many Mustangs around here, and i'm sure that is the case in most parts of the US :o

I've got to chime in and stick up for the automatic transmission, which not only is generally more reliable and more consistent than a manual, can be made to be faster than a manual in otherwise equal cars. A manual is indeed fun to drive, more efficient, and faster when compared to most FACTORY automatic counterparts, however i'm not about to let the transmission style have any effect whatsoever on any car I ever pick out. It irks the hell out of me when people see a car then go "Oh wait...its an auto" and let that be the base of their opinion of the car. Sure, its a preference thing, but I dont think it should be as big of a deal as everybody makes it out to be.

Again, nice looking car you have. I'm not a Ford person, did the 35th Anniversary edition have any special equipment that would not appear on any other year?
2006-01-10, 7:40 AM #31
Yeah, for my daily driver I want an auto. Now for a fun weekend car... manual all the way.
gbk is 50 probably

Try waiting in line for a stop sign around San Francisco (where the sidewalks are often stairs) in a manual :o

Do you know what kind of horsepower that car puts down? I assume it has the 3.8 engine?

How many times have you heard of a manual transmission "going out?"

Also, my car looks naked under the hood since there's no auto tranny.

Nice car. The manual transmission is a good choice. I believe the automatic's had a faulty accumulator piston in 99 (common warranty repair), which you won't have to worry about. With i had stick in my T-Bird. Also the 3.8 is a good engine too(4.6 is better), just don't beat it up too badly.
2006-01-10, 7:12 PM #35
I tried to park it in my garage, and couldn't fit it (with room to get out), so I pulled it back out into the rain.

It needed washed anyway. :o

I have been driving it somewhat rough, and got 21.5 miles per gallon. I wonder what it gets if I drive normally.
