My brother found Jabba
2006-01-08, 9:07 AM #1
My brother just went to get breakfast and found this Jabba statue on the side of the road. It says 4329 of 5000 on the plate. Is it worth anything?

Thief!
I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

My brother found Jesus. It says 138,264 of 144,000.

I found a translucent hypercube of some sort. If I spin it a certain way it has a button on the top. Should I press the button?

Wow, nice find. I'm sure it's worth cash.

I'm the guy who found this. It was in the middle of our busy road last night. It was still there this morning, so I checked it out. I opened the box and saw Jabba. I think it's a great find. There is no address or anyway of knowing how to return it. If I could I would. I'm not a theif, it was just a great find.

What Kirby said.

Looks like it's in pretty good condition too.
2006-01-08, 9:26 AM #8
yeah it was packed in a box with newspaper so it's in pretty good condition.

I'm pretty sure he stole it.

He's expensive to purchase... I think that partucular Jabba was made by Sharper Image, but it's hard to find anything about it anymore. He just fell off the face of the internet, as most people are looking for the attakus figures.

He didn't steal anything. If it's in the middle of the road one night, and the next morning it's still there, it's not theft. He simply found it. Somebody would have had to have it in their possession first for him to steal it, and since the road didn't possess it...

I know I've seen that Jabba for sale before but have no clue about the maker and from where.

This is the only site I can find that references it so far, at least it has a clearer picture to go by though.

I was hoping the block of text under it had some info but it didn't.

You could write into Galactic Hunter's Q&A, if the guy doesn't have the answer he usually mentions it in an update anyways in case anyone else knows.

Thank you for sticking up for me. I didn't steal the darn thing. It is a strange find but it was a FIND. Not stolen!

You and Jabba make a nice couple in the pic. Congrats!

Heh, we were making a website for some law-firm and were discussing with the chief-lawyer (or however you call them) what pictures to use for the website.
One showed a rather huge secretary with a lawyer standing behind her.
Tactfully our customer consultant asked if he really wanted to use the photo.
Taking her meaning he answered: "No, of course not. We wanted to take the secretary out and put Jabba the Hutt in her stead."
That was the point when I realized that not all lawyers are *******s without any sense of humour...
Sorry for the lousy German

Exactly. anything you find on the side of the road or in the trash is up for grabs if anyone wants it.
2006-01-08, 4:49 PM #25
Yup, even your car!
2006-01-08, 5:47 PM #26
What about houses? They're kind of on the side of the road, and at some points during hte day no one is in them...
DO NOT WANT.

Incorrect.

Example:

A friend of my father's finds a motorcycle in a ditch along the highway a few years afo. It was there three days from when he first found it. So he grabs it.

Was in rough shape, was pretty old, but was good for parts.

After finding more parts on the e-bay, he uses the motorcycle's frame and some other original parts to build a working motorcycle.

He attempts to register it at the MVA. It is reported missing. LUCKILY, all he had to fork over was the frame.

Now, since the statue is a collectable, with production numbers, it more than likely has a certificate of authenticity somewhere. Now, one could technically report the item lost or stolen, using their certificate of authenticity as proof of ownership. Or if it really is of value, a photo of the production number.

In short. He might have unintentionally stole something, because finders keepers hasn't applied to anything since roughly the third grade.

My advice? Stick an add in the paper and see what you can fish up.

edit: fixed a little cavemanish speak

FYI, I meant anything besides motor vehicles, houses, etc.

Oh thats the thing, it applies to ANYTHING.

Especially anything that can be identified with a number.

Snap!

$200 on eBay for 1371 out of 5000 with certificate of authenticity.

After a quick Google the only non-eBay place I can find that has it for sale is this Swiss site, which has the price at 1400 CHF, or around $1100 USD.

Now you must find out who originally owned this item so that you may break in to their house and steal this "certificate of authenticity".
