So I played the demo for the first time today..stood in a doorway and told one of my guys to mirror the room. There's silence for a second, and he says "Get out of the way, sir."

Man..games have come so far in the last ten years.. :D

Yeah, I remember playing the demo to one of the games (I think it was the 3rd one) and I liked the game's approach of how to bust criminals. Rather than be like the counter-terrorists that go "Ok, this place is full of terrorist scum bags. Lets fill them all with holes!", the SWAT games took the approach of "Ok, I'm gonna shout at you to surrender. If you shoot back, you're toast!" and if the criminals did surrender, you get to cuff them and give ya self a nice pat on the back :)

I heard you can rubber bullet people too.

Which would be awesome if it is realistic.

Because I'd really love to down someone with rubber bullets, then rubber bullet them some more after they're down because they're criminals.

Also, police brutality is cool.

The full game has a simple custom scenario creator. Best thing to do:

Place tons of hostages in a room with about 5 or 10 hostage takers. Run in and open fire at the floor. The hostage takers will mow down all of the hostages.

SWAT3 was great fun, though the AI officers did lack quite a bit of humanity - not that I blame them. I had a shoot-on-sight policy, and ended up with a few dead hostages and a terribly low officer respect.

It was fun though.

If SWAT4 has made the officers more lively and "human", it sounds like its worth a look.

Q. How many testers does it take to change a light bulb?
A. We just noticed the room was dark; we don't actually fix the problems.

I always used hollow-tip bullets and full lethal force. Lock and load. Shoot to kill.

Crowded jails? Not in *my* district.

I tried most of the missions solo, except for the Rapid Deployment missions (Oh how I HATED the sewers)

Yet for some reason, at the first shot, my team would come rushing up behind me and open up on whatever was there... which was usually me.

If I did the same to them? "Friendly fire! Officer hit! TAKE HIM DOWN"

B*stards.

I had the demo for a while, and I'm pretty certain that you can shoot beanbags at people.

In SWAT3, the team leader (the player) can have an M4 that fires beanbags or whatever. What annoys me is, people still don't give up after taking four to the chest... that should've paralysed them. One to the face always does the trick... but everyone else gets a bit tetchy when you do it after they've been restrained. Especially when you do it to hostages.

Yeah - it'll usually force them into compliance. :p

I told an officer to taser a non-compliant civilian..and I was in the way. That sucked...couldn't do anything for a while. :(
