Is KotOR II a good game?

I'm thinking about getting Knights of the Old Republic II, being very impressed by the original, even playing through it twice (I think). But I heard that KotOR II has a very dissapointing story or somesuch. Anyways, your advise, ladies and gentlemen? Is it a worthy sequel?

It's fun to play and the character development is actually much deeper than in KotOR, but the game seems to be unfinished. The ending is rushed and some open plots are just left alone.
Not to mention the numerous bugs a game shouldn't have when it uses a finished engine...
If Obsidian had had the time to finish the game it would've been much better than KotOR.
Sorry for the lousy German

Pretty much what Impi said.

If you liked the original, you'll like the sequel, but don't expect to be blown away.
Moo.

What Impi and Cow said. I did enjoy it a lot, but...
Yeah, you stay here and take life seriously. I'll go and have some fun.

I think it was great. Character development was better than KotOR, but the first did have a better story. Far more memorable, to be honest. If you do get the sequel, you might want to keep an eye on the Restoration Project which is working on 'finishing' the game, since like Koobie said it doesn't really tie itself together most of the time.

Even though it ended... how it ended, yes.

I'm enjoying it so far, but yeah I've noticed my share of bugs.

I played it through 4 times I think. It was really fun. Nothing to new in comparison to the original, but that's not so bad.
Pissed Off?

I thought it sucked.
It had its moments, but never surpassed the original.

I'm STILL waiting for the Dantooine bug to be fixed.

I go along with Impi et al
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

The second time I played it, I got half way through and the game literally stopped working. I was too much on the light side and was trying to go Dark Side when asked to do my upperclass, so I said I'd come back later (after killing some innocents) and never could get the upperclass.

The game is fun, it starts out really, really boring. It isn't until just after you get Bao-Dur that the game starts to get more enjoyable. The first 2 planets/levels are beyond boring though, until the end of the second planet.

The first game had more of a major plot twist though. This game, you get to the end and it's just "Yeah, ok, you could tell when you first met me I was evil. Oh, yeah, there is no major deep emotional thing. I lied." Literally, the character says something along the lines of "You expected some major twist? No, I lied."

The only benefit of this game, beyond being able to create/break-down items (and being the ultimate badass with guns or a lightsaber) is the upperclass and making almost everyone Jedi. You can pretty much take the lightsaber, have one in each hand and have yourself dishing out Godlike amounts of damage with each blade, and not lose any bonus points or something.

And you can turk HK-47 into a good guy.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

I guess I'll wait for this Restoration Project to be finished before buying the game, then. And meanwhile, will upgrade and get FEAR. Or just get FEAR. Muahaha. Ha.

Not really, you put in the pacafist package, there's some funny dialogue, and HK-47 asks you to remove it. I'm not sure if you can keep it in him. It has been awhile, though.

Personally, the only bug I experience was on Telos, in Atris' "hideout", but I found a fix for it at pcgamemods that works, even though it was made by a user. I'm sure the most recent patch has probably fixed it, though.

The bottom line is, if you're unsure whether to get the game, wait for the next price drop. It'll be 19.99 (US) and will most definitely be worth it then.

No, actually, if you go light side and get enough influence with him, he will go light side too. Like take him and give moeny to that droid merchant, light side point PLUS positive points. Go kill a few innocents around him, then go do some light side points and he goes too.

Yeah you gotta pull off a few acts of evil to get him to get influence. Just look at the influence guys on gamefaq.com and do just about 3 and he will get some light side. I think its near impossible to get him fully light though, cause you gotta do some light things to get fully light again to get the bonus points. Its just funny to see HK-47 with blue back.

  1. Shift + `
  2. addlightpoints
  3. Profit!

:D

Also, there is a REALLY big saber mod that basically added ~70 lightsabers to the game. There's this which is an editing forum. I read it occasionally.

PC is too slow, I only could use it on the X-Box.
