They should have shot him in the face and took him out of the gene pool. For safety, take out his whole family.

ah..yes Florida, where we combine the best of northern hospitality with southern efficiency.

My beloved home state yet again provides sick disturbing entertainment to the rest of the country. Well I don't know if the kid died eventually or not, but it sounds like that’s what he wanted, whatever his problems they were not worth killing himself over.

I don't think he was trying to hurt anyone but himself. It's not an unheard of method of suicide. If he lives, he'll hopefully get the help he needs.

Speaking of idiots, there was a mayor in a town near where I live that was embezzling money... by using white-out on checks and putting his name on them.

Whats even more sad is that the bank was cashing them without question.

I read about this in the paper today.

The kid had to be nuts or something. Wouldn't even talk to the cops after they cornered him in the bathroom. Then the dork points his painted pellet gun at them. Brilliant.

Sounds to me, while reading the article, that the kid really didn't want suicide but attention. I don't know about you but if I really wanted to die, I just take a knife and cut my throat. If that's too slow for ya, just jump into a passing car and that should be a quick death.

I think it's a combination of suicide and obviously wanting attention.
He sounds like the kind of kid who wanted to kill himself becasue he did think he got enough attention, and then decided that this would be a way to do both.

It's people like this who make me really sad.

The whole atmosphere of public schools is about being cool and social and popular, which is why parrents and (to a lesser extent) teachers should make it a point to emphisize that if kids are not getting attention by their peers that dosen't mean they are failure in their whole life. (but in order to do that they would need to give the kids some attention thereby helping in really two ways.)

Parents do not and can not control every action their kid makes. I think it's fair to assume that the parents instilled the knowledge that pointing weapons and armed officers is a bad idea. Why parents can be held accountable, they are not always so.

...i think the cops may have over reacted if they had him cornered and in the bathroom... there could have been many ways they could have taken him down without such lethal force. Either way the kid got what he ultimately deserved but the it still dosn't change the fact that he had a pellet gun which is very different then an animated cocking 9mm pistol...

Well didn't they write in the article he pointed it at the cops? If they did think it was a 9mm, they shot when it was pointed to them. Thats normal. Imo anyways. When you think you are about to be shot, I imagine you don't stop and weight the pros and cons and other possibilities. :p

no like I said he got what he deserved but law enforcements job (if you ever played the SWAT video game you'll understand ha a joke...) to not be trigger happy and professionaly handle situations like this with non-lethal force... Whatever the case hes dead now so who cares but you'd think SWAT guys would be able to see the difference in the weapon and not get into a situation with a 15 yearold where he could point at them if they were just talking a couple seconds earlier.

But they didn't overreact. It can be assumed that he was instructed to put down the weapon. If an officer tells you to put down "the weapon", and you've got a pellet gun in your hand, it's reasonable to assume that the officer is referring to the pellet gun. Furthermore, it's reasonable to assume that when an officer says to "put something down", they don't mean "point it at us".

Jep in the second article posted it tells he's dead. His dad reportedly tried to let the cops know that it was not a real gun but his information never made it to them... just a ****ty loss especially since he was only 15
