I've got some cash to spend
2004-06-06, 5:21 AM #1
I got about $580 from graduation spending money (plus my soon to come stage crew check, which is about $200). I'm trying to decide what to spend it on. I have a list of CD's I want, a few computer games that look interesting, a few movies I want, upgrade my processor(1.6 Ghtz), and I also want LASIX surgery, but that costs thousands of dollars(don't know exactly so much) and I think my grandparents might pay for that. I've also seen GameCube price go down to $100 and that yet to be released Zelda game(not wind waker, the one where you can be teen link) has been giving me wet dreams. I also like the Smash Brother and Mario Party series too. I am however aprehensive about getting a Gamecube because my PS2 has been collecting dust(I just like computer better). I figured out the hard way that I hate first person shooters on consoles. But once Grand Theft Auto San Andreas comes out....oh yeah. Any suggestions on what to do with my money? And no, I'm not donating it to any of you guys. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

Most of the time when people give you graduation money it's meant to be spent on college.

Lasik sounds good, although I'm going to wait until the 10-year mark to see what the long-term side effects are. Until then, its contact lenses for me.

CDs and a computer upgrade sounds good to me.

Spend it all on one of those swanky new Radeon X800 video cards [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Pagewizard, here in Utah we have a place called the Moran Vision Center that is associated with the University of Utah. It is the laser corrective institution. This is where people go when another place screwed up.

Spork, my 9800 Pro works just fine for me at the moment. It's the processor that needs to go faster.

Don't waste it on computer games or the like. Seriously.

Save it up. Put it into eventually getting an apartment, car, etc...

I can see the car, but I probably won't be getting a house for at least another 10 years.

You know you've been spending too much time on the computer... --when your spending 580$ on all computer games, accessories, and upgrades.. seriously, spend it on something that is also a physical activity, like a paintball gun.. or.. running shoes or something... JUST NOT COMPUTER GAMES!

I'd keep most of it. While your college classes/ect are paid for.. You still have to have money to pay for food/gas/ect. That'll add up quick.

Unless of course you're staying with your parents. In that case, blow it all on a Terrabyte harddrive.

I'm with MB on this. Usually when I get money from christmas or whatever I just stick it in my wallet or in the bank. Don't try to blow it right now, because if you can't think of anything to spend it on there's probably nothing you could buy with it that'll be worth it. Wait until you find something you want, then you'll have the money handy.

Notice when I mention upgrading my slow processor or being interesting in a few games, several people only see that. Speaks volumes. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

For college I'm living with my parents (20 minutes from campus). My mom has said she will buy me a cellphone and a car CD player for my truck(both of which I was going to do myself anyway) if I don't join the National Guard until next year(which I had planned anyway after much thought). Now I just need to get my entire family on the boat of buying me LASIX surgery(and probably only that) for my birthday which is in August and I'll be set. I'm not spoiled, I'm just lucky. As for the money, if you're *completely* sure you don't want to send it to me, then you should probably save it towards a car or something...

I couldn't see spending 2300 on a PC. Ever.

But yah, get an AMD 64 32/400 +, some RAM, and a new Mobo, the new thief game, and save up for Doom 3/HL2. PSPs won't be out for another year...fweee

And as for the X800 Pro, while it IS nice to be able to play every game on the market at ultrafull settings and have not a single bit of lag, it's not neccesary I suppose. Though I'm getting one for my birthday either way, so :P
