I snowshoed 58 miles of the Northville Placid Trail. The NPT is a trail that spans much of the Adirondack Park, and goes from from the town of Northville to the village of Lake Placid (site of the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics- it was in 1980 that the US hockey team beat the russians at Lake Placid, for those of you who saw the movie Miracle). The entire trail is about 122 miles long, so we did nearly half of it. It took us 11 days, and was totally awesome. Didnt see another soul apart from the people I was hiking with for any of those 11 days, and we went through some of the most remote wilderness that the Eastern US has to offer.

So, what interesting and cool things did other people do during their winter breaks?
