Windows ME SUCKS!...
2006-01-22, 9:50 AM #1
Ok... I'm officialy announcing that I'm going to cut off any and all connection that I have with windows ME... this time I got INCREDIBLY pissed off...

I was downloading Empire at War demo... when suddenly I'm told I ran out of disk space and I need to clear some. So I do. I cleared like 2 extra gigs of space on the drive. And you know what happened? NOTHING! Absolutely nothing! It just sit there saying it wasn't finished... well then I go looking for the file in the temporary internet files folder and the temp folder, and it wouldn't let me access it or copy it in any way. I had no choice but to cancel it. Now then... I have another problem. It seems that Windows ME has lost its marbles and isn't managing the power correctly... and now my computer is randomly shutting it self down when I'm in windows me. I'm finnally convinced that XP is superior, and I'm activating my copy now.

MORAL: Windows ME sucks!
Nothing to see here, move along.

Windows YOU sucks.

The strange thing is, I never had a problem with ME.. EVER.

Hello, and welcome to six years ago.

We had a Windows ME machine. It had tons of problems. My dad blamed my sister and I (even though I didn't use it.) When he was at work one day, I backed everything up, installed XP, and set it back up.

He never really mentioned it... but it hasn't had the problems since.

WinME is weird - it seems as though when it works, it works fine..but when it doesn't, it goes down with a bang.

Win98 > WinME
woot!

Ive never gone higher than windows 98.

The only reason my computer sucks is cos it has viruses and missing system files, and it was built by a stupid lesbian.

My old Windows ME box would give me a memory error every couple of minutes, probably. I love it when the OS overwrites memory it needs to access. That's about when I started to switch to Linux.

When you play back the WinME-CD in reverse it gives you a message from Satan.

That's nothing--when you play it forward it actually installs the damn thing. Now that's scary.

When you play it at double speed, it reads off the entire US tax code.

Now THAT is scary.

I hated WinME with a passion- infact, back when my only alternative was WinME, I used Linux much more frequently than I do now. However, I've had no problems whatsoever with WinXP.

I also hated it quite alot which is why i got XP on that machine eventually espically since microsoft didn't support it after it was released and had many problems (which is why i didnt feel bad about downloading xp)

I suspect Windows ME was just a half-assed attempt to make profits at the turn of the millenium. Extra emphasis on half-assed.

Win ME wasn't that great but I ran it for years and never had as much trouble with it as eveyone else. I think it's just one of those things everyone exagerates.

It's really not. At one point I had to reinstall every game I wanted to play every time I rebooted or it wouldn't work. And then it would find corrupted folders every day and delete them, sometimes rather important ones. Then I switched to 2000, and have stuck with NT-based windows ever since.

Yeah, it's not at all overstated. ME is always the culprit with absolutely nonsensical bugs. Seriously, why would it just randomly start deleting SYSTEM folders when it's aparent there's NO HD failure or damage? What would even spark that in the framework of the OS? When an OS literally deteriorates and molds ITSELF without ANY help from the user or programs [I've seen factory shipped ME machines turned on 3 or 4 times, barely used and NOT on the internet suddenly have issues on the 3rd or 4th time it was used. Nothing was done to the PC besides word processing and a few mspaint pictures. I've seen this on SEVERAL occasions.

ME is BAD.

There are cases such as this. I've seen ME boxes run fine...for god knows what reason. Maybe it was Win2k disguised as ME. Who knows.
