This is a message to all of you grammar nazis: [http://www.oscempire.net/images/misc/stfu.gif]

Nobody cares how good your education is. I don't care if you wrote a novel. STFU with the grammar stuff. I don't care if you "can't stand when someone misspells that word!", keep it to yourself. You don't look smart, you don't look cool, and you aren't funny. Just stop it. Some people that I've had much respect for I now have much less because they have been running around complaining about stupid spelling and grammar mistakes.

There was a forum announcment made about this issue a while ago; It sounds like not to many people read it or something [http://forums.massassi.net/html/rolleyes.gif]. Or, maybe they think it doesn't matter anymore because it mysteriously disappeared and went back to the one about MaDa as most recent 0_o

Oh well, I could care less about spelling -- it's only when I just cannot read it AT ALL or it's complete crap when I start to get pissed.

I don't think SAJN is adressing this to people such as those who have already responded, those who complain only if you can't understand th message, in which case normally it is a request to clean it up (or insulting the user's intelligence level but, yah know? i'll give them the benifit of the doubt). I think he's adressing the people that jsut come out of nowhere and say "you spelled antidisestablishmentarianism wrong" and then proceeds to insult the person. by the way, i have no idea if i spelled that right or not.

Ah, yes, this is the thread made especially for me. Well, to be fair, I only complain about grammar in people's posts when they are posting about how stupid someone else is. I simply point out the irony, that while complaining about someone else's ignorance, they are displaying their's.

Or in the case of the Maddox thread, it was because Maddox always complains about people misspelling and using bad grammar, so I thought it was fitting for the thread.

Chill out.

Could you please provide links to examples of this, and one or two won't do because that would make it an isolated case? And not just you, but SAJN specifically. Or is this just another SAJN thread generated for the sake of SAJNity, as we've seen plenty of those?

If you can back up your claim so as to make it a good point, I'll totally agree, because it (the issue at hand) can certainly be annoying.

I noticed most conversations tend to degrade quickly once a spelling error is pointed out.
How quickly the nazi accusations start and everything starts getting personal.
Not that I'm on the side of the nazis, I hate it when people pick on my laziness with 'their there and they're'
Anyway, my point:
Pointing out spelling errors kill conversations, so just try and ignore them for the good of all

The grammar nazis don't bother me becaue I know being a grammar nazi is all they really have. If the best someone can do is point out your grammatical errors in a debate or discussion, they are just sad. Most of the time, it's nothing more than the person trying the make themselves feel superior to the person they are flaming.

Then again...some of us just have respect for language. I am a gramamr nazi, and there is a difference between grammar nazis and a-holes.

"In summary, the protons clearly would NOT trigger such an affect."

Clear misuse of the word, displaying a lack of language skills. This does not reflect upon the person's cognitive abilities or their worth as a human being. It's just annoying to those of us who like proper grammar.

"In summary, teh protons clearly would NOT trigger such a neffect."
Clear typo. No problems.

Just to clarify, you see. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

I only comment on grammar if it completely changes the intended meaning of something. Like with "could care less". So many people say it, and don't realize it means almost the opposite of what they mean to say.

Other than that, I really don't care.

------------------
Genesis 22:2-5 - And God said unto Abraham "You must kill your son, Isaac." And Abraham said "What? I can't hear you! You'll have to speak into the microphone." And God said "Check, check, check, check. Jerry, can you pull the high end out. I'm getting some hiss up here."

We were discussing this not long ago on the channel, 'I could care less' is (probably) sarcastic.
Or in other words, you really mean you couldn't care less.
Otherwise its just like most sayings and its simply slowly transforming through general mis-hearing and similar.

No, there is a difference.

1.) Em Playa knows how to speak regular english, he chooses not to.
2.) There is a difference between someone who accidently makes a typo and a person who types that way all the time, because he chooses not to speak proper english, because he is to lazy or something.
3.) Em Playa is a huge jerk. I tend to be more harsh on people that act like total immature jerks then with nice respectful people.

I'd rather have someone know how to speak proper english and choose not to than to have someone butcher it unknowingly and without caring.

It's worse to be "to" lazy to understand your own language than to choose to speak it incorrectly.

Ok, let me break it down then.

Your thread title: "u r all looosing mai respact"

You go on to rant about how the grammar nazis need to lay off people for stupid typos and such. I completley agree. I bring up the topic of how you bash Em Playa, and that it is hypocricy. You say:

Quote:
<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">Em Playa errors - LOL @ playa hatin. **** **** aint nutin I did 2 u guys *** all you d*** s**** **** f****.</font>

What I am trying to say is...your topic title and Em Playa's "way" of speaking are completely the same. Why are you bashing him, if you intend to defend it?
