Firefly Season 2 Survey
2006-01-25, 4:39 PM #1
I obviously got this from slashdot, but not all of you read it, I am sure:

http://www.fireflyseason2.com/index.asp

These people are trying to get demographics of Firefly fans so that they can figure out how to distribute it and pay for it.

Please contribute - the more people who say they are willing to do it (and then do it), the better the likelihood of the thing continuing.

Ah, if i could download episodes as they came available i'd definatly go for it. I dunno about paying per episode though. I'd rather just pay a flat fee for the entire series.

more things with these characters could possibly be made, but firefly will never return.

fox owns the tv rights to firefly, whedon says he doesnt wanna work with fox again, no more firefly.

Didn't like the black dude die in the movie ? So why is he present?
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

Yes... Book did die. got shotup while gunning down the alliance ship that attacked them. He died pretty much right as Simon got to him.

Just to elaborate. Firefly is over, done, fin. BUT Joss said that there could be a show based off of Serenity (Which Joss also said that Serenity is NOT Firefly)

Wrong!
Wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong!

What you read was misquoted, taken out of context, and chopped together from several interviews. Firefly is NOT necessarily done. He isn't sure how he is going to continue it, but he plans to revisit the Firefly 'verse somehow.

That doesn't make any sense. They're one and the same in my mind. Serenity is essentially just another episode. A second series really seems doubtful since the pupularity of the franchise, expressed in monetary terms, isn't as great as the cult fandom would have us believe. That being said, I happily own all of the DVDs and wouldn't mind seeing the series continue.

Serenity is different because 2 main characters are dead, and the psycho-chick is now the pilot.

She's not the pilot, she just "can" pilot the ship.

Is she the gun-person because she fired a gun in that one episode of Firefly?
No, jayne is.

Ok, it took some looking, but I found the article I was referring to.
http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/index.php?id=33982
I read somewhere else that Fox owned the creation rights for firefly thus Joss created Serenity (which Fox didn't own rights to) So any continuation would be based on Serenity, not Firefly. But, it is still the same universe, so ya... I too feel that Serenity is just a continuation, but technically it isn't.
I don't know if any of that made sense, but I'm tired so just read the article.

Someone's angsty. There will be no more Firefly because Fox owns the rights to it. What could end up happening (the way I'm reading it all anyway, which is probably wrong) is that we get another TV show which is similar but not called Firefly. I'm not sure where Fox's rights to it ends and where Universal's (Serenity's) rights begin.

Word. Serenity finished it up, guys. It just wouldn't be Firefly without Wash and Book . Spoiler tags for anyone who still hasn't seen the movie, just in case.

Theres way more that still hasn't been tied up.

Such as blue sun, books past, Niska etc, theres loads of things in there, whedon also said something about him having the idea that Early isn't dead.
2006-01-26, 10:14 AM #23
Also, Whedon did NOT say it was done. He just said that he couldn't do it under the name Firefly, and said (in sarcasm) in an interview that he was done and there was no reason for him to continue.

Yeah, I'm curious about Blue Sun and Book's past. But... Niska? What's the big deal? No questions there, and he's still alive and kicking, as far as I know.

I've noticed a few descrepancies between Firefly and Serenity, though. Remember in the first episode when Simon reveals the truth to the ship's crew? He says he paid some underground movement to break River out and ship her to Simon in cryogenic storage. But, at the start of the movie, it's Simon himself breaking her out of captivity. Minor descrepancies, yes, but they tick me off. Joss could re-make another season under a different name, but if it was related to both the movie AND the show, he'd have some explaining to do.

Or maybe Simon just lied. I dunno.

Hrmm, that might not fare well. Remember what happened with Buffy?
nope.

Angel was insanely better than Buffy, now that I remember.

Yeah, but still.

I just remembered that some people here were "omgangelsux" but I didn't watch it then so I couldn't say "omgusux" to them.

So omgusux.
