Well, whilst waiting for AVG to scan my drive (and wondering if it's going to do it all) I amused myself with a file and folder count of my system and got:

C:\
83,514 files in 6,056 folders using 47.1/74.2 GB

G:\
19,292 files in 948 folders, using 78.4/114 GB

Total 102,806 files in 7,004 folders totalling 125.5/188.2 GB

And what about you?

17.5 GB in root, spread across 304,828 files and 30,180 directories. This is on a relatively fresh install of Gentoo, plus my music collection, amaroK, Kaffeine, OpenOffice and KDevelop. It doesn't include files in /boot or in drives (because those aren't mounted), but it does include nodes in /dev, /proc and /sys.

I keep all my music and movies on the NFS server, which is getting dangerously close to being filled.

Only problem is the running out of space on G. I'm going to have to buy an external.

Didn't bother with discerning between directories and other files.

Code:

Disruptor / # df -h

Tip to get the full file and folder count in Windows: Go to the root, select all in the files pane, hit properties, wait for the numbers to stop moving around.

Code:
Drive: Size: Files: Folders: Files Total Bytes: Files Total Allocated: Total Used:
------ ----- ------ -------- ------------------ ---------------------- -----------
C: 80,023,715,840 bytes (74.5GB) 256,987 24,497 83,090,522,093 bytes (77.3GB) 72,883,588,887 bytes (67.8GB) 73,235,070,976 bytes (68.2GB)
D: 250,994,384,896 bytes (233GB) 72,844 4,886 70,880,898,193 bytes (66.0GB) 71,063,953,408 bytes (66.1GB) 71,195,152,384 bytes (66.3GB)

Size indicates the amount of data the drive can hold.
This does not take into account NTFS compression.
Files Total Bytes indicates the sum of all the bytes every file has to it's name.
This also does not take into account NTFS compression.
Files Total Allocated indicates the sum of all the disk blocks allocated to the files.
This takes into account NTFS compression,
Total Used refers to the total number of bytes NOT available for use on the drive.
This also takes into account NTFS compression.
