Uwe Boll's master piece. A LOTR clone if there ever was one, with slow motion effects, Gimli...and NINJAS!

Dungeon Siege Movie Trailer

Oh god, someone should just ban Uwe from ever directing a movie again
Yeah, you stay here and take life seriously. I'll go and have some fun.

Wow... didn't expect *that* to ever become a movie. The only fantasy game property I wouldn't mind seeing becoming a movie would have to be the Warcraft series. That game's story has a lot of depth to it that would make for a worth while film. If you've seen World of Warcrafts Movie Intro, you would probably agree it would look awesome as a movie.

careful what you wish for... uwe boll might actually be the one who makes it

though hopefully blizzard has enough sense to do the right thing if uwe boll approaches them asking for the movie rights for anything of theirs... i hope they nail his feet to the ground and hose him down with acid

I am still pissed they are letting him make a Far Cry movie. I don't care if he butchers these other games, but Far Cry? What a prick.
Think while it's still legal.

That was SO bad!

I really want to know how he gets the rights.

Uwe Boll has already admitted that it's a scam. He pays himself a large director's salary and gets German investors, who - under German law - can write off film investments. He doesn't have any particular incentive to make good movies. He gets paid the same either way, as long as he produces something.

More proof that Germany should have been nuked at the end of WW2. Eh.

Wow. Far Cry. That had the lamest story ever. How could they even make a movie out of that?

That was so bad. I couldn't even bring myself to watch the whole thing. Good job it's not real.

It's not real :(

Good greif, if the trailer is that bad I really don't want to see the movie.

I just thank God that Bungie retains creative control over the Halo movie, and John Woo is sitting on the rights to Metroid. If Uwe Boll got his hands on either of those movies... ugh. I'm not sure what I'd do, but I'm sure it would involve a one-way flight to Germany.
2006-01-28, 9:46 AM #16
Whats so bad about that? It looked awesome, I wish it were a movie.
Nothing to see here, move along.

You know to be honest, it's looks ok. It's not necessarily horrible but I could be wrong. The name title is different so it's good that has no relation whatsoever to the games and it does follow the basic plot of a farmer rising up against the legions of evil. BTW, for those who have played Dungeon Siege 2, you do know that the majority of soldiers that you fight with do look like the Ur' haki(sp?) for LOTR.
No sig.

I'm going to admit that it doesn't look AS terrible as House fo the Dead, but Uwe Boll really needs to have his heart explode inside his chest. Soon.

You should have figured out by now that the tax law was changed at the beginning of the year. Nonetheless, Boll still manages to get contracts because of his sheer charisma.

An hour on the phone with Boll can leave you thinking that perhaps you were wrong after all, perhaps his movies - even those that cast Tara Reid as an archaeologist or tell the story of zombies hanging out at a rave - aren't that bad, just misunderstood.

"He's very personable, very honest," [IGN's Chris] Carle said. "He's quick to laugh, he's a fun guy to hang out with."

[Jim] Schramm, whose company distributed BloodRayne, said he was so charmed by Boll that he ended up putting some of his own money into promoting the film.

"He is so serious about making sure his investors are taken care of, that his actors are taken care of...he's more interested in that than anything at all," he said.

Word has gotten out, Schramm says, that Boll is a good guy to work for.

Great..there goes my "hope his heart explodes" mentality. I hope he moves on from actually directing and...I don't know..I hope he live s agood life but stops making crappy movies.

No other country invested so much into Hollywood as Germany. Mostly because of this law. But now that the law was changed Hollywood is in fear of having to finance their movies themselves.
Sorry for the lousy German

It's no Oscar winner, but to expect as much is pretty silly.

I'm sure I've seen this movie trailer before. Except it had a dragon with a muscular arm on its back, and the main character was on fire.

I saw the trailer roughly a month ago (I've been following the movie since it was announced in 2004. At the time, there was no mention of Boll Anywhere). As for the movie, i can't help but say that i'm intrigued. Boll's involvement leaves me skeptical as to how good it will be, but the fact that DS's original plot was virtually non-existant means that there's not a hell of a lot to screw up.

Also, for those of you who are interested, the Seck are apparently non-existant in this film (they were the race behind the attacks on Ehb in the original game) and have been replaced by a new group called the Hussarians (no idea who they are). Also, the trailer we've seen here is for part one. There will be a sequal to "In The Name of The King" (God help us all).

If Boll is responsible for the ****ty quality, and judging from that BloodRayne dealie-doo-dad, he is, it would be an absolute travesty for him to produce a movie based on Halo or MGS or even Far Cry. Metroid too.
2006-01-28, 4:15 PM #34
I would curl up into a little ball and cry if someone made a bad MGS film.
2006-01-28, 4:42 PM #35
It seems like Hideo Kojima would be able to write and direct a MGS film... Or maybe directing a film isn't within his abilities...

Seems like the games cutscenes are cinematic enough, anyways.
2006-01-28, 5:14 PM #36
According to Wiki, Kojima has forbade Uwe Boll from coming within a hundred yards of the property, despite the fact that Boll's been after him for months or somehting.

-Well, Uwe Boll has brought one good thing to the world, it's the comfort of bad directors everywhere as they walk down the street and say to themselves, "Hey, at least I didn't make Alone in the Dark."
2006-01-28, 5:58 PM #37
That really looks horrible...
2006-01-28, 6:50 PM #38
Apparently, Boll is also working on a movie based off of the game Postal. Now, how could you possibly make a movie out of that? (IIRC all you do is go around and run errands while engaging in random, utterly pointless violence)
2006-01-28, 7:37 PM #39
It looks OK, despite some bad dialogue here and there. I'll rent it when it goes down to $0.99.

Ok...

main character is Russel Crowe wannabe.

bad guy(?) is Joaquin Phoenix wannabe.

Then they completely STEAL a line from Gladiator... kind of...

I know at least 3 of the actors are big name actors, but who would ever have considered casting them in a fantasy movie????????????
