Moon conspiracy theories? You ain't seen nothing yet...

Apparently, the moon is hollow.

But that's just the beginning. The article goes on to explain that the lunar landers used antigravity technology reverse-engineered from stolen Nazi research, that the Moon has an atmosphere and weather and UFO bases, and that the Moon is "evil" and is broadcasting a "frequency pattern" that influences womens' menstrual cycles. Of course it's replete with references to "the government" and their "cover-ups".

I'm seriously doubting that this guy has a Ph.D. Although, he does have one thing going for him: he doesn't think that the moon landings were all faked in a movie studio. So I guess he isn't a total wackjob.

Oh, and this whole thing is hilarious. I found Area 51 an awesome game to play just for all the "ZOMG Conspiracy!" stuff in it.
I had a blog. It sucked.

Well, it was nice of those aliens on the moon to lend us a hand with things when our astronauts were up there.
Life is beautiful.

I used to be really interested in all the craziness of conspiracy theories, picking out which of the seriously crackpot ones were most realistic...
I also used to be really obsessed with this exact theory and several permutations of it. JediKirby strike me down, I used to believe this stuff, and still do. To an extent.
Pretty much, the article is more or less something I can deal with right up to the line "So what's going on with the Moon?", at which point it goes into crazy mode.
I looked through and they don't appear to have any of the "Stunning Photo Evidence" that attracted me to the theories in the first place, namely dozens of photographs showing rocks that have rolled uphill (I'm sure there's a logical explanation, probably just the settling of dust being disturbed in some sort of shadow-type dealy under the rock making it look like a path has been made by the uphill travel of a rock, or whatever), and all sorts of "cities" on the moon (basically ejecta from meteor impacts).

-Hollow? Eh. I can see it that way. Once wrote a story involving a very sinister moon conspiracy, but then I reliazed that the entire concept was pretty much summed up in the quote "That's no moon..."

Someone needs to do a calculation to see whether a hollow moon could even withstand tidal forces from the Earth.

Anyways, some of stuff in the article even seems to contradict itself. Like how they give a number for the Moon's gravity at 60-70% of Earth's (way more than the actual value which is somewhere around 18% if I'm not mistaken) and then claim that it's just a hollow shell a few tens of miles thick... so what, is it made of neutronium then? No material other than that is dens enough.

Pfft, what a dumbass. Everyone knows that the moon's really a man made of cheese who will rain down death and destruction on the heathens in the final days.

Death by cheese.

My god that's hilarious.

I love the bit about Apollo 13 taking off from the moon and making it reverberate.

I don't think I've laughed so hard in weeks.

Wow. Believe it or not, a guy that I worked with over break told me almost EXACTLY this whole thing. He must have read it.

I tried to look interested while he was telling me. But I was laughing deep down inside.

Hahah, that's awesome. Took one look at it and thought "wow, this is like the definition of crappy 90's web design. I bet it has pictures of the awards it's won and a hit counter at the bottom too"

And whaddaya know, I was right. All it needs to be perfect is one of those bars that say "UNDER CONSTRUCTION" and an embedded MIDI file.

What I hate about conspiracy theories about that moon is that they all complain about the flag waving. If you look at the photos, you can clearly see the rod in the top of the flag designed to give the waving affect. Freaking patriotic 1960s americans.
nope.

Thanks so much for making me laugh so hard.. I'm not going to start ripping it to pieces but there's one little tiny wrong statement that I will mention; the moon is not in a circular orbit, it's moving outwards.

To quote wikipedia:
The tidal bulges on Earth, caused by the Moon's gravity, are carried ahead of the apparent position of the Moon by the Earth's rotation, in part because of the friction of the water as it slides over the ocean bottom and into or out of bays and estuaries. As a result, some of the Earth's rotational momentum is gradually being transferred to the Moon's orbital momentum, resulting in the Moon slowly receding from Earth at the rate of approximately 38 mm per year.

Now I'm going to the Pub :) It's quiz time at my local.
