I was wondering what a good program is to make Flash Cartoons? Either free or purchasable, but preferably free. I'd like to be able to make a cartoon that would look sort of like this (as far as the qualities go):

"Jayne, this is something the Captain has to do for himself"

"N-No it's not!"

"Oh."

I make flash animations every month, and I use SwishMax. Great proggy and way easier than Macromedia.

Flash isn't 699 for a personal copy, iirc. That'd make it more expensive than both Illustrator and Photoshop combined. If you just get Flash MX I'm sure it's only like 50 or 100 or so.

There is a free Flash for Linux: http://linux.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Graphics/Flash-for-Linux-407.shtml if you use Linux. It's probably buggy, doesn't have very many features and extras, and you have to compile the binaries yourself.

In the case of Flash, you're best off sticking with Swish or Macromedia's offerings. Though I hear Crossover Office 2.1 has support for Flash, and that's about $60

I own flash, but it's organization is nonsensical according to most graphical programs, so I haven't touched it much, yet. I'd love to, but... bleh.

Flash is pretty difficult. I've had it for a while and I'm still figuring a few things out. I love it for making artwork and stuff. Pretty neat program, I'll have to check out that Swish thing.
Very funny Scotty. Now beam down my clothes.
