Do you guys think this card will do me right for the money?

I have a x800 right now, and the dvi port doesn't work... not to mention it's got serious heating issues. This one has the big heatsink/fan on it already, and I'm hoping the dvi port works so I can use my HDTV as a secondary monitor. Plus I hear the x850xt is quite nice.

Also, Battlefield 2 doesn't "support" my card, so for some reason if I turn up all of the graphics to max and play online, it crashes my computer. the x850xt is on the list of supported cards, so I'm hoping I'm good to go.

It may be 5-10% faster. Couldn't you RMA?

I guess you missed the part where I illustrated the fact that my current card does not work properly. Way to go.

He meant RMA the card that doesn't work, dufus.

Oh. Sorry.

WTF is RMA?

I can't return it because I bought it at a crap website to save like 20 bucks. That's biting me on the *** right now.

RMA is Return Merchandise Authorization. It's what you get when you call the company, tell them your product isn't working, and they send you a number and you return it.

It wasn't an ATi card, though. It was one of those Connect 3d ones. I don't know if that sort of thing would work.

Maybe I'll do that after I get my new card and I'll sell the one they send me to a friend.

all manufactures have an RMA service, connect 3D, (although by far and away not the best graphics card manufacturer, but are none the less pretty decent), will have an RMA service.

thought about trying their support page??

http://www.connect3d.com/support/default.htm

there is a phone number there, 09068 02 02 42 (Calls are charged at 60p per minute)...although looking at the number I believe that is the UK service.

might want to look around here for the US one (http://www.connect3d-us.com/start.html)...its flash and is being an arse on Firefox for some reason...

its worth a go giving them a call, maybe cost you a couple of £/$ on the phone but could save you buying a brand new card, which in all honesty won't be that much better than what you have.

That card is red. I hope it matches your motherboard or else you'll have to redecorate!

Its a good card. I don't like buying cards that aren't made by ATI, but Sapphire makes the best out of them all. (Besides ATI)

I just got a Sapphire X700 last night :p

Amen, brutha.

although my sapphire 9800se just randomly died after 6m of use with no tweaking. we think it may have been a mobo issue though.

ATi doesn't make cards any more.

My VisionTek x800 (128mb PCIE) runs the BF2 demo on high detail online with no problems..

Not even this? I must be missing something.

iirc, that's just Sapphire rebranded as ATi. ATi made a deal after the 9800 came out.

Hm. That's odd.

Regardless, my VisionTek x800 runs BF2 just fine - shouldn't be a card/chipset issue..I don't even have heat or stability issues in a Dell case with a 440mhz core / 440mhz memory overclock (up from 390/351-ish stock).

I think it's the fact that the video card has a crap cooling system and possibly a faulty chip.

I have a small cooling system on mine as well..have you checked to see if you can RMA it?

If you're just going to throw it out, let me know & I'll be more than happy to pay s/h to get it to me. ;)

I think I'm gonna see what I can do as far as getting a new one. If all works out, I'll be happy to sell it to someone on here.
