Yessiree sir, it is. Check the apple website, it should have most of the relevant details, if you wanted more techy info. I'm not the best source for that :)

Hey look, its 4x faster! Maybe that's because Macs were slow as crap to start with!

Macs weren't slow as crap--IBM's chip just wasn't nearly as efficient as the x86 line has become. Lack of competition/innovation to thank. And they still run Photoshop/Adobe Suite quite a bit better/faster, so they've got something going for them. Though we'll see how OSX handles it when Adobe comes out with an x86 mac version.
