Elder Scrolls IV : Oblivion

So how many of you are waiting for Elder Scrolls IV : Oblivion?

I've been glued to their website for the last few months and I'm dying for it to be released. Just last night, they published the system reqs, and there is speculation (oy, I hate speculation, gives too much hope) that the game might be on the brink of going gold.

I think things are looking good, and the game itself is going to both look stunningly beautiful and play as a marvel.

How bout you?

If it's just a morrowind rehash, count me the hell out.

I highly doubt it. There is a whole new light-sensitive stealth system implemented, a new combat system (where you actually press a button to block, and it has more moves), and some amazing magic. Not to mention horses, a world about twice as big, and an amazing Artificial Intelligence system. (NPC's will actually have needs and tasks and go about it, walking around town, from town to town. They will sleep, eat, read, practice whatever, steal if they are desperate, etc.)

I didn't like Morrowind. But it didn't help that the game ran like crap...I still didn't like it.
I had a blog. It sucked.
2006-02-02, 1:49 PM #5
Can I still decimate entire towns?

I was going to play the first one, because someone said you could do that. Then they told me the combat sucked. :(
2006-02-02, 1:50 PM #6
You could kill everyone in a town (if you can manage to serve onslaughts of guard) albeit cities will be much more populated than they were in morrowind.

CHEATS.

:)

Hopefully the combat doesn't suck.

Hey, do you think you could stealth kill an entire town? That'd be neato torpedo.
2006-02-02, 1:52 PM #8
You can kill almost anything very quickly and the only skill you need is a decently high hand to hand. Might take a while, but it's pretty simple

Oh, so this is like you gain skill by pounding on stuff with a certain weapon?

I like that.

You'll even be able to drag their bodies around and pile em up in the center of town. (so I hear anyways) :o

Yea, the way the Elder Scrolls system works is that you gain XP and skill ranking by practicing it. Jump about, your acrobatics skill is gonna increase, smack people with your sword, you sword skills are going to increase. Cast spells, etc.etc. blabla.

Yes, but Thief 2 was not an open-ended RPG with marvelous graphics and lots of cities to kill :D

Nah, I want to like.. stand them up in closets, in the homes of the elderly.

So that if the bodies are discovered they will have heart attacks.

Someone needs to institute the MGS2/3/TTS body-hiding technique where you hide bodies in closets/bathroom stalls/lockers into the game for that.

Or Rob could mod the game.
I had a blog. It sucked.

I'm definately looking forward to it. They've pretty much improved or taken out everything I thought sucked about Morrowind.

Shoot.

Oblivion will be the first gmae that comes out that my computer is not even remotely capable of playing. I was wondering when that was going to happen.

First? FEAR's recommended system requirements are about the same..

I don't know. There are some really beefy system out there.
2006-02-02, 2:27 PM #32
I'm hoping someone puts moogles in. Morrowind isn't the same without the short fuzzy buggers.
Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

Started playing Morrowind again the other day and finally realised how the levelling system works. The game is much more fun now (esp. when you learn the essential travelling skills like levitate) than the last times I tried to replay it.
VTEC just kicked in, yo!

I should probably invest in some more RAM...
