Freaking cat.

This cat randomly wandered onto my deck a month or two ago. My brother decided to give it some food, well...now it's kind of still here. So now we feed it and take care of it. (It can't go in the house though, mom is alergic to cats). Anyway, we get it a tick and flea collar and what not. It's the nicest cat EVER! It stands at my door and meows all day :P because it wants attention. So we pet it and it rolls on its back because it want's it's stomach rubbed and what not. Even if you dn't pet it, it just follows you and rubs up against your leg. Never bites, even if you put your hand right at it's mouth. Doesn't scratch.

But..this thing is a freaking hunter. So far it's killed like 6 chimpmunks and a few mice (Well, those are the ones we found) So just a few mins ago, I see this thing attack a chipmunk, so I run over, and the chimpmuk doesn't look hurt...but it isn't running away! It's just hopping around in a circle..so then it runs in a shurb and the cat grabs it by its tail. So I get the cat to drop it, and I start pushing the chimpmunk until it runs away. Ugh, freaking cat. I'm so buying it a bell for it's collar or something.

Anyone with cat stories?

the cat is just following its nature by hunting. One could hardly blame it for doing what is natural to it.

Yes, but it's getting nuts, this thing is killing a few rodents a day. And cute fuzzy ones at that [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

I've had cats that would kill 2 or 3 birds at a time and then line them up on the back porch and then sit next to them as if waiting for me to inspect them and approve. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

I got tired of picking up bird carcasses with my shovel and then carrying them over to the garbage can, but it got bad when the cat would do it right after garbage day, b/c the carcasses would be rotting there for a week and it would strt to smell quite bad.

Throw them over the fence into the neighbor's lawn. Let them worry about it.

I did that once when I was a kid (about 12) and wound up in real deep s*** for doing it when my parents caught me. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

To make matters worse, the carcass fell behind some bushes and was already full of ants by the time my parents made me go over to clean it up.

Our younger cat, which escaped one day, caught and killed a bird and just left it there. The other cat, which we've had for a while, brings everything it kills (shrews, birds, squirrels) to one of our houses doors, and then proceeds to devour them. I usually get the job of dealing with the remaining feathers and squirrel heads.

Most cats don't kill their prey immediately - they'll play with it for a while to exhaust it, then finally deliver the fatal bite.

Cats really come in handy where I live. I've got both a creek and a field with about waist high grass all withen 20 feet of my house, used to have snakes, mice, and rats. We got a couple of cats, and they've basically hunted them all down, no more problem. And it's really nice not to have Copperheads sitting in your front lawn.

A few years back my family had a cat that killed a mouse, jumped up on the dining table, then placed the mouse in the center of a placemat.

Have a friend who lives on a farm. One day, she and her mom are working near some stables, and a chicken leading her chicks walks by. The horse leans down, picks up one of the chicks, and begins eating it. Some parts of the chick fall out of its mouth, and the mother chicken comes over and starts eating the fallen parts.

Needless to say, they were shocked.

I don't know about the cat, but that chipmunk must've been a freaking retard.

As for the chicken, many animals in nature eat their young if they're dead or dying. Nothing to spectacular about that. I don't know what the horse's deal is, but I'd stay away from it. It's already proven that it will eat flesh.

I'd say that was planned from the start.
That little chicken was getting too big for its boots, and it doesn't even wear boots.
The hen knew it was up to no good, and so hired a hit-horse to do him in.
I don't have a cat, but my dog (maltese terrier) that catches mice all the time. SHe doesn't tease them though, jsut kills them outright and leaves them at my door.
I encourage her, I don't want mice in the house.
