This is desecration. :(

That sucks. Unless it was the stadium where the chunks of concrete were falling down during the games.

It will be finished in 2 months (they build most of it before they tore down the original stadium (look at the first pic in this post to see how this is possible)

The new one looks nicer and will be a better place to see a game. Better atmosphere.

They tore down the kingdome to make room for Quest field, and the Kingdome ROCKED. (Well, it was the one whee concrete fell on people, so...)

-But then again, they actually blew up the Kingdome. It was awesome.

They should bomb it from the air as a public spectacle.

At first I had no clue where Busch Stadium was until I noticed the arch in teh background.

Why does it eerily look like Petco Park?
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

Because all the new parks these days are trying to look like SBC park up here in SF.

I like that strange arch you see in the background of some of the photos. It's taller than the tallest buildings! Damn, it rocks. Who cares about what the stadium looks like when you have a thing like that in the city?

When I was a kid there was some TV show that evidently took place in St. Louis, as I remembered seeing "the arch" in the show's intro. I always wondered where that was afterward, and couldn't research it because I didn't know what it was called.

Thanks, now I know.

Personally, I like the new stadium far better than the old stadium.

Any time I'd be at a game at the old stadium it always felt old and as though it needed to be repaired in a number of ways. And from what I've heard, it was literally falling apart.

I didn't care for the new stadium all that much until I saw it in person 2 weeks ago when my parents, fiancee, and I went to the 2006 St. Louis Auto Show. We drove past it, and I actually really like the way it looks. It's HUGE. I thought it was interesting how close it is to Highway 40. I'd love to see someone hit a ball out of the park and hit a moving car on the highway. It'd be hilarious, when you don't consider the damage it could cause. But I doubt it'd ever happen anyway. Although I'm not sure what side of the stadium the highway is on, I'm hoping behind home plate, or similar, as opposed to behind the outfield.

For the record, I'm not really a sports fan.
And I do live in St. Louis, about a half hour from the stadium or the arch.

That's because it was really old.. all it needed was to be "fixed up"... not knocked down!

My dad grew up in River View (St. Louis suburb, about 2 minute drive from the Mississippi River from his house) so we bought him this nice commemmorative picture/plaque thing from the post office in town.
I had a blog. It sucked.

That would have worked weel, I'm sure. There's also the clubhouse/locker room facilities to consider as well. In a lot of these old stadiums, there is no room to work with. Also, sometimes it's cheaper to build a new stadium.
