Game shows!

I was flipping through the channels on digital cable (200+ channels, most of them junk) and found a channel called "Nick GAS." Now, I don't really watch kid shows, but, dammit, Nickelodeon was a big piece of my childhood. So I decided to watch for a short while (it was better than typing a paper). What grabbed my attention was when GAS decided to show reruns of classic game shows from back in the good old days!

Holy crap, Legends of the Hidden Temple! I remember watching those clumsy kids trying to find prizes in a cheaply decorated interior of the "ancient Mayan temple." Also, Figure It Out was good, happy fun. And Nick Arcade was a more entertaining show about video games than today's G4's The Arena. I guess that has to do with that overly excited dude as the host.

I don't care much of Nickelodeon these days. The good stuff was in the past. But do they even do game shows for kids anymore? Are they too corny or lame for today's "hip" audience? Are these stupid "reality shows" better? Dammit, where's my slime . :(

nickelodeon gave up on playing endless reruns of those game shows ages ago in australia. it is kinda sad, as some of them were quite entertaining (and i am sure there are still episodes that i have never seen)

I've never been able to get the walking music from Nick Arcade out of my head.

They also play GUTS and Double Dare, though I don't know when.

I mean new game shows. I don't watch the regular Nick anymore but I think the game show generation (for kids) seem tp be over.

Oh, and I miss Ren and Stimpy.

Nick Arcade and Temple of the Hidden Treasure (I think that was the name) were my favorite shows back then.

Oh man. That's the complete truth. Legend of the Hidden Temple was awesome, and I remember watching GUTS a lot. There was also this show where they had like 3 teams competing in some summer games, with like one adult leader on each team. It was good.

So many shows to talk about...
I had a blog. It sucked.

I remember the Temple one, and I remember one where at the end they had to climb a giant mountain, and fake boulders would be hurled at them and stuff.

Amen. Seriously...I'd take Kenan and Kel any day over That's so Raven (Disney) or Nickelodeon's stupid cartoons. The old All That was awesome too.

But Pete and Pete was complete and utter CLASSIC.

You can still catch episodes of Rocko's Modern Life on those extra Nick channels, too.

My favorite episode of Wild and Crazy Kids was the one with the cast of Salute Your Shorts. That was another awesome show. But, that show is so old, I can barely remember the theme song. :(

Rocko's Modern Life, Pete and Pete, and all of those other great shows need to come out on DVD. It would be like buying back my childhood.

Pete and Pete was one of the best shows ever. I think about it almost daily.

If only I had some way of watching that show again...

I actually met the creator of Rocko's Modern Life once back in the 6th grade (you know, back when the wheel was just invented). It was pretty cool seeing him draw his creations on our chalkboard and giving everyone a drawing and his signature. I got two of them - one for myself and one for my sister. He drew me Rocko and drew the cow character (sorry, forgot his name) for my sister.

Camp Oniwana, we hold you in our hearts, and when we think about you, I think this fell apart (the fishing rod)

That's all I can remember...

I used to watch Salute Your Shorts, GUTS, Legends of the Hidden Temple, and Rocko's Modern Life religiously.

I think that was Global GUTS. I always wanted to be someone who climbs that metal mountain. It doesn't look to hard.

Oh, and Rocko's Modern Life rocked! I mean, would any show today feature Nipples of the Future?

The mountain's name was the Agrocrag! I heard Mike O'Mally actually kept the Agrocrag when the show was cancelled, though I can't find any evidence to support that.

Camp Onawanna (or something O_o) we hold you in our hearts...

Nick Arcade was always my favorite, but always because I rocked harder than any of them at Gradius III and I wanted to watch them suck.

Legends of the Hidden Temple = god. I always wanted to be on there.

Where's my Roundhouse?! That show was awesome!

They need to have like.. classic SNICK or something. I miss the old school All That and 'Are You Afraid Of The Dark?'

I miss my childhood :(

Holy crap! I remember 'Are you Afraid of the Dark?' It wasn't scary, of course, but it was fun to watch!

And classic All That was good, with a funny cast. Including the Big Ear of Corn (or something like that)

Ren and Stimpy and Transformers were the best shows.

I also really like the smurfs for some reason when I was a brat. :gbk:

Now that's going waaay back. **** I remember watching that before I had two digits in my age.
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

Rocko's Modern Life, Ren & Stimpy, Round The Twist and Knightmare were probably some of my favourites,

Knightmare rocked boxes of socks many times.
Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.
